As we deliver our ambitious 2030 Growth Strategy, we’re looking for a Import Specialist to lead Imports into India including customs clearance, ensuring accurate
classification of goods using HSN codes and coordinating with internal teams to ensure timely and efficient material inward processes.
Who We’re Looking For:
- Degree qualified in Supply chain Management or Global Trade
- Proven experience in Import operations and Documentation, preferably dealing with specialty chemicals, Pharmaceuticals or Personal care ingredients
Strong understanding of HSN codes, customs procedures, and import documentation.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for products containing animal and plant derivatives, Dangerous Goods, Haz trans and Warehousing Legislation
- Sound knowledge of SAP, Demand Planning & Sales Forecasting Software, Database Software and Excel
- Strong communicator and persuader with good negotiation skills
- Highly numerate with attention to detail
- Comfortable working to tight deadlines
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead Import Operations and Compliance, including documentation, customs and coordination with freight forwarders/Customs brokers.
- Ensure accurate classification of imported goods using appropriate HSN codes, especially for chemical products with specific end uses.
- Analyze team performance and operational workflows to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
- Lead short-term and long-term supply chain and customer service improvement projects (3–6 months).
- Develop and revise working procedures for customer service, sales, logistics, and warehouse teams.
- Liaise with supply chain teams across Croda divisions, with a specific focus on Croda Europe, USA to drive global process alignment.
- Provide timely and accurate material availability updates to customer service teams.
- Generate purchase orders for all imported materials and services.
- Train and develop customer service, logistics, and warehouse teams in SAP (Key User role).
- Collaborate with sales managers to analyze sales and stock levels for consignment customers.
- Ensure sales representatives and managers are trained and informed on consignment processes.
- Lead and control invoice processing for Croda Nordica.
- Ensure timely resolution of customer complaints through effective cross-departmental coordination.
