Job Title: OT Technician / Operation Theatre Technician
Job Summary:
An OT Technician is responsible for assisting surgeons, anaesthetist, nurses, and other healthcare professionals before, during, and after surgical procedures. The role includes preparing the operation theatre, maintaining sterile conditions, handling surgical instruments and equipment, and ensuring patient and theatre safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and arrange the operation theatre before surgical procedures.
- Check and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and OT supplies.
- Assist surgeons and nurses during surgical procedures.
- Maintain strict aseptic and infection-control practices.
- Prepare and handle surgical instruments and sterile equipment.
- Assist with patient positioning and transfer according to procedure requirements.
- Ensure proper sterilization and disinfection of instruments and equipment.
- Monitor availability of surgical consumables, medicines, and other OT materials.
- Assist with pre-operative and post-operative OT procedures.
- Handle surgical specimens according to hospital protocols.
- Maintain OT records, checklists, and documentation.
- Follow hospital safety, infection-control, and emergency procedures.
- Clean and prepare the OT after each procedure.
- Coordinate with nursing, anesthesia, housekeeping, CSSD, and other departments.
- Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate department.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and professional standards.
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of OT procedures and surgical instruments.
- Understanding of infection control and sterilization techniques.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in emergency situations.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Basic knowledge of patient safety and emergency protocols.
Qualification:
Diploma/B.Sc. in Operation Theatre Technology (or equivalent qualification), depending on the employer's requirements.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
