ABOUT STRATUM DEFENSE TECHNOLOGY
Stratum Defense Technology LLP is an Indian defence technology company building autonomous systems for the Indian armed forces. We are at the founding stage, developing India's first indigenous autonomous undersea vehicle under the iDEX ADITI 4 programme. NSTL Visakhapatnam (DRDO) has issued a formal Letter of Support for our application.
We are headquartered in New Delhi with programme operations at Visakhapatnam. The people joining now will be present at every significant programme milestone.
---
ABOUT THE ROLE
You will own the technical requirements baseline and interface control documentation for Project MAKARA. This means driving the system requirements document to its SRR-baselined state, maintaining full requirements traceability across all subsystems, and owning interface definitions between the hull, propulsor, flight control unit, payload bay, acoustic sensor network, and NSTL test facility.
This is a writing-heavy, detail-critical role. The quality of what you produce determines whether the programme passes its milestone reviews and whether subsystem engineers have the clarity to build to the right specification.
Full technical scope shared under NDA at first interview stage.
---
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive the MAKARA system requirements document from current state to SRR-baselined issue, incorporating all active payload and architecture decisions
- Maintain a full requirements traceability matrix (L1 mission → L2 system → L3 subsystem → L4 component) and own change control from SRR baseline onwards
- Own interface control documentation across all subsystem boundaries: hull, propulsor, flight control unit, payload bay, acoustic sensor network, and NSTL test interfaces
- Support NSTL MoU technical deliverables schedule: test slot confirmations, data sharing agreements, and ICD receipt tracking
- Contribute to DO-178C DAL-A requirements traceability structure for flight control unit software qualification
- Maintain the programme WBS in coordination with the Programme Documentation Engineer
- Support technical submissions for DISC 14 and DRISHTI challenge applications as required
---
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- BTech or MTech in Aerospace, Electronics, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering
- 3–5 years in a defence, aerospace, or equivalent technical programme with hands-on requirements or interface documentation experience
- Experience producing and maintaining requirements traceability matrices — tool-agnostic (Excel-based RTM, DOORS, Polarion, or equivalent)
- Ability to write formal technical documentation: specifications, ICDs, and verification plans to a standard suitable for government review
- Familiarity with systems engineering lifecycle: SRR, PDR, CDR, FAT, and what documentation gates each milestone
---
BENEFICIAL EXPERIENCE
- ISRO, DRDO, HAL, BEL, or equivalent government/PSU programme background
- Private aerospace or defence experience: L&T Defence, Tata Advanced Systems, Mahindra Defence, ideaForge, or equivalent
- DO-178C, MIL-STD-499C, or ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288 working knowledge
- AUV, UAV, missile, or autonomous vehicle systems background
- iDEX, DRDO Make-II, or other government-funded programme experience
---
WHAT WE OFFER
- Work on a programme that does not exist anywhere else in India
- Direct access to NSTL Visakhapatnam test facilities and DRDO research community
- Salary Rs 4–5 LPA benchmarked to Delhi defence-adjacent market
- Hybrid working with flexibility outside critical programme milestones
