Production Operator – Pilot Plant

We are looking for an Production Operator for our Pilot Plant Operations. As an operator, you will be reporting to a production supervisor. You will be responsible for hands-on execution of pilot-scale chemical processes derived from biomass residues. This is a shift-based operational role perfect for candidates who enjoy shop-floor work and have experience running reactors, filtration, and distillation units in chemical, pharma, paint, or paper industries.
Responsibilities:
- Operate pilot plant equipment as per standard operating procedures (reactors, centrifuges, filters, evaporators, dryers, pumps, columns, etc.)
- Handling utility packages such as thermic oil system, hot water system, chillers, air compressors, N2 generators, cooling tower,DM Water system
- Load and unload biomass, solvents, and chemicals safely
- Monitor and record process parameters (temperature, pressure, pH, flow rates) and report deviations immediately
- Perform cleaning-in-place (CIP), equipment changeover, and basic maintenance activities
- Support in the troubleshooting of equipment (reactors, centrifuges, dryers, evaporators, pumps, heat exchangers, utilities)
- Handle solvent recovery, waste segregation, and effluent management as per safety guidelines
- Assist in scale-up trials and new process introduction under supervisor guidance
- Maintain housekeeping (5S), batch logs, and equipment logbooks
- Follow all safety protocols, wear proper PPE, and participate in safety drills
- Support R&D team during experimental runs
Qualifications & Experience:
- ITI / Diploma in Chemical Technology, Chemical Plant Operator, B. Sc/ M. SC in Chemistry or Biotechnology or related field
- 2–3 years of hands-on experience as Plant Operator/ Field Operator / Process Technician
- Experience in any of the following industries is preferred:
o Fine/specialty chemical manufacturing
o Pharmaceutical API plants
o Paper & pulp / bio-refinery operations
o Paint & resin production
Requirements:
- Ability to read and follow SOPs, batch sheets, and basic P&IDs
- Familiarity with DCS/PLC panel operation (mandatory)
- Experience in biomass handling or solvent-based extraction will be highly valued
- Good understanding of safety practices with flammable and corrosive chemicals
- Physical fitness to work in shifts and handle manual tasks
- Basic computer skills (MS Office) and ability to maintain records
