Job Summary
Responsible for safely rigging, lifting, shifting, positioning, and securing heavy equipment, machinery, structural blocks, pipes, and ship components using cranes, chain blocks, slings, wire ropes, and other lifting gear during shipbuilding, ship repair, and maintenance activities. The role requires strict adherence to safety procedures and lifting plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and select appropriate lifting gear such as wire ropes, slings, shackles, hooks, chain blocks, and lifting beams.
- Perform rigging operations for lifting, shifting, and positioning heavy materials and equipment.
- Guide crane operators using standard hand signals or radio communication.
- Verify load weight, center of gravity, and lifting points before every lift.
- Ensure lifting operations comply with approved lifting plans and safety procedures.
- Inspect and report defective lifting tools and rigging equipment.
- Assist in installation, removal, and alignment of ship machinery, engines, pipes, and structural components.
- Maintain housekeeping and safe work practices at the worksite.
- Follow Permit-to-Work (PTW), PPE, and HSE requirements at all times.
Qualification
- ITI/Trade Certificate or equivalent.
- Valid Rigger Certification (preferred).
Experience
- 2–10 years of experience as a Rigger in a shipyard, marine, heavy engineering, oil & gas, or construction industry.
Skills
- Knowledge of lifting gear, rigging hardware, and safe lifting practices.
- Ability to interpret lifting plans and load charts.
- Familiarity with crane signaling and lifting operations.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Strong awareness of workplace safety and hazard identification.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
