Experience
8–15 Years in Environmental, Health & Safety within Chemical, Petrochemical, Specialty Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Paints, Dyes, or Process Manufacturing Industries.
Educational Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, Industrial Safety, or equivalent.
- Diploma/PG Diploma in Industrial Safety from a recognized institute (Preferred).
- Certification in ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 Lead Auditor/Internal Auditor (Preferred).
- Knowledge of statutory environmental and safety regulations.
Job Summary
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, health, and safety systems across the manufacturing facility. The role ensures compliance with all statutory regulations, promotes a zero-accident culture, minimizes environmental impact, and drives continuous improvement in workplace safety.
Key ResponsibilitiesHealth & Safety Management
- Develop, implement, and monitor EHS policies, procedures, and SOPs.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety laws, environmental regulations, and company standards.
- Conduct risk assessments, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA).
- Lead accident prevention programs and promote a strong safety culture.
- Conduct incident investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Monitor permit-to-work systems including Hot Work, Height Work, Confined Space Entry, Electrical Isolation, and LOTO.
- Ensure proper use of PPE across all departments.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
Environmental Management
- Ensure compliance with Pollution Control Board norms.
- Monitor emissions, wastewater, hazardous waste, and environmental performance.
- Manage ETP/STP operations and waste disposal systems.
- Ensure proper hazardous waste storage, transportation, and disposal.
- Coordinate environmental monitoring and regulatory reporting.
- Drive sustainability and environmental conservation initiatives.
Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance under:
- Factories Act
- State Factory Rules
- Environment Protection Act
- Water Act
- Air Act
- Hazardous & Other Wastes Management Rules
- Chemical Accident Rules
- MSIHC Rules
- PESO Guidelines
- Fire Safety Regulations
- Liaise with Government Authorities, Pollution Control Board, Factory Inspectorate, Fire Department, and other regulatory agencies.
- Maintain all statutory records, licenses, and approvals.
Emergency Preparedness
- Develop and maintain Emergency Response Plans.
- Organize mock drills for fire, chemical leakage, gas release, and evacuation.
- Coordinate with Fire & Emergency Response Teams.
- Ensure availability and maintenance of firefighting systems and emergency equipment.
Training & Awareness
- Conduct induction safety training for new employees and contractors.
- Organize periodic safety awareness programs.
- Conduct toolbox talks and behavioral safety initiatives.
- Train employees on emergency response, chemical handling, and safe work practices.
Audit & Management Systems
- Lead ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 implementation and maintenance.
- Conduct internal EHS audits and coordinate external audits.
- Monitor compliance with audit observations.
- Develop and track EHS KPIs.
- Prepare monthly MIS and management reports.
Contractor Safety
- Ensure contractor compliance with EHS standards.
- Conduct contractor safety orientation and performance evaluations.
- Monitor contractor work permits and site safety.
