Working under the supervision of an ER physician, they conduct triage, order and interpret diagnostic tests (labs and imaging), perform minor procedures, and manage rapid clinical decision-making in a high-pressure environment. Typical Environment & BenefitsBecause emergency departments operate 24/7, ER PAs often work rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. However, this often translates to working condensed 3- to 4-day workweeks, providing significant blocks of time off. The fast-paced environment prevents the monotony of routine clinic work and yields diverse clinical experience. In India, hospital roles feature rotational shifts with salaries ranging according to qualifications and region. [1]
