Procurement Executive (Air & Sea Freight)

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Procurement – Air & Sea Freight
- Source and procure competitive freight rates and services for air and ocean shipments (FCL/LCL, Import & Export).
- Establish rate contracts and service agreements with Airlines, Shipping Lines, NVOCCs, Co-loaders, and Consolidators.
- Monitor space allocations, sailing schedules, and freight rate trends to ensure the best service and pricing for customers.
- Coordinate closely with IATA Agents and CHAs for cargo handling and customs clearance support.
2. Vendor Development & Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers, airlines, shipping lines, and logistics partners.
- Leverage industry networks to secure spot rates, special pricing, and space during peak seasons.
- Conduct regular vendor performance reviews based on service quality, cost efficiency, and reliability.
3. Market Intelligence & Cost Optimization
- Stay updated on freight market developments, surcharges, fuel costs, and trade lane trends.
- Benchmark procurement costs and recommend strategies to optimize buying and improve profitability.
- Monitor competitor pricing and procurement trends across key sectors.
4. Internal Collaboration
- Support the Pricing, Sales, and Operations teams with timely procurement inputs and rate updates.
- Ensure seamless handover of confirmed bookings to the Operations team with complete documentation of rates, free days, terms, and conditions.
- Assist in RFQs, tenders, and key account procurement planning.
5. Air & Sea Freight Pricing
- Analyze rate requests received from Sales and customers for import and export shipments.
- Coordinate with airlines, shipping lines, co-loaders, and overseas agents to obtain the most competitive buying rates.
- Prepare and submit customer quotations within defined turnaround timelines.
- Support RFQs, spot rate requests, and tender submissions.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong industry network with Airlines, Shipping Lines, NVOCCs, CHAs, and IATA Agents.
- Proven experience in vendor management and commercial negotiations.
- Sound understanding of trade lanes, cargo movements, and air & sea freight operations.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, freight rate comparison tools, and logistics software.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
- Highly organized, proactive, and target-oriented.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in any discipline.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in Procurement/Pricing within the Freight Forwarding industry.
- Experience handling both Air Freight and Sea Freight procurement.
- Exposure to digital booking platforms, customs regulations, and industry standards is preferred.
