Job Description: Head of English Department
- Lead the planning, implementation, and continuous evaluation of the English curriculum to ensure academic rigour, cultural relevance, and cohesion across all grade levels.
- Support and mentor English teachers through effective coaching, classroom observation, and tailored professional development programmes.
- Monitor and analyse student performance data in English, using insights to enhance teaching strategies and improve student learning outcomes.
- Organise and chair regular departmental meetings to foster collaboration, address challenges, and promote the sharing of best practices in English pedagogy.
- Collaborate closely with school leadership to align goals for English education with the school’s broader academic vision and priorities.
- Manage the department’s resources, materials, and budget to support innovative and effective teaching and learning in English.
- Cultivate a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages a love of literature, language skills, and critical thinking among all students.
- Engage proactively with families, caregivers, and the wider school community to promote enthusiasm for English and communicate departmental initiatives.
- Stay abreast of current trends, research, and technology in English education, integrating new approaches to enhance classroom teaching and learning.
