Position Summary
The Academic Specialist – Early Childhood Education (ECE) will be responsible for supporting the design and implementation of Early Childhood Education programmes. The role involves close coordination with government stakeholders, academic institutions, and field teams to ensure quality programme delivery, academic resource development, capacity building, and effective implementation of ECE initiatives.
The position will contribute to strengthening teaching-learning processes and improving children's learning outcomes through structured, age-appropriate, and play-based approaches to school readiness and foundational learning.
Key Responsibilities1. Academic Programme Implementation
- Undertake assigned academic activities related to Early Childhood Education under the guidance of the reporting manager and relevant academic teams.
- Support the design and implementation of ECE-related academic programmes and initiatives.
- Provide academic and programmatic support to relevant teams and projects as required.
2. Academic Resource & Material Development
- Develop instructional materials, including:
- Workbooks
- Teacher guides
- Play-based learning resources
- Professional development modules
- Develop modules and resources such as handouts, presentations, and videos for teachers and mentors.
- Ensure that academic materials are aligned with relevant ECE frameworks, guidelines, and instructional design principles.
3. Stakeholder Coordination & Collaboration
- Collaborate with government ECE units, academic institutions, and other relevant partners for state-level academic activities.
- Support academic activities related to instructional materials, professional development, academic support, and assessment.
- Work closely with relevant stakeholders to strengthen the implementation of ECE initiatives.
4. Workshops & Capacity Building
- Facilitate workshops on material development and professional development.
- Conduct capacity-building programmes for master trainers, resource groups, teachers, mentors, and field teams.
- Support capacity-building initiatives for field teams working on ECE programmes.
- Conduct workshops and training sessions to strengthen knowledge and practice in Early Childhood Education.
5. Field Visits & Academic Support
- Visit schools and programme locations to observe classrooms and understand teaching-learning practices.
- Collect observations and data on key instructional issues to inform improvements in programme design and academic materials.
- Provide academic support to field teams and other relevant stakeholders.
- Travel regularly for programme-related meetings, training programmes, workshops, and field visits.
6. System Strengthening
- Support relevant government and academic institutions in strengthening ECE systems and processes.
- Contribute to initiatives aimed at strengthening the design, delivery, and implementation of Early Childhood Education programmes.
- Support academic activities related to curriculum, teacher development, instructional design, and assessment.
7. Documentation & Knowledge Building
- Lead and contribute to documentation activities, including:
- Process notes
- Case studies
- Academic reports
- Reflective pieces
- Document key academic learnings and insights from programme implementation.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement of academic practices.
8. Professional Development
- Proactively update professional knowledge by undertaking relevant courses and training programmes.
- Review new research, frameworks, and emerging practices in Early Childhood Education.
- Explore innovative approaches and practices to strengthen professional knowledge and academic expertise.
Educational Qualifications, Skills & ExperienceQualifications
- Graduation or an equivalent degree is required.
- A Master’s degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field will be preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in:
- Curriculum design
- Teacher training
- Academic resource development
- Early Childhood Education
- Elementary Education
- Prior experience working on ECE or Foundational Literacy and Numeracy programmes will be an added advantage.
Essential Skills & Abilities
- Strong academic grounding in Early Childhood Education and play-based learning approaches.
- Strong communication skills in Hindi and English, including reading, writing, and speaking.
- Excellent academic writing skills in Hindi.
- Ability to plan, prioritise, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Competence in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Good internet and digital research skills.
- Proficiency in Hindi typing.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and work under pressure.
