Backend Developer (Mobile and Connected Vehicle Services)

Role Summary:
Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services supporting Mobile and Connected Vehicle Services platforms. The role is responsible for service design, API development, cloud integration, identity management, deployment support, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:

Analyze business requirements, user stories, technical specifications, and integration requirements.

Design, develop and maintain backend services and APIs supporting mobile applications.

Develop scalable RESTful services and microservice-based solutions.
-
Design secure integration patterns with enterprise systems, identity providers, and cloud platforms.

Implement authentication and authorization solutions using OAuth2, OpenID Connect and Enterprise SSO.
-
Participate in technical design reviews and architecture discussions.

Develop and maintain API specifications and technical documentation.
-
Support deployment, release management, production support, and troubleshooting.

Conduct peer code reviews for backend services, APIs and integration components.

Ensure compliance with coding standards, API governance standards, security requirements, and architecture principles.

Collaborate closely with Mobile Developers, QA Lead and Technical Architect.

Leverage AI tools for service development, API design, code generation, testing, code reviews, documentation and investigations.

Review, validate and refine AI-generated code and technical artifacts before implementation.

Identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities, integration risks, performance issues, and maintainability concerns in AI-generated outputs.
Required Skills:

6+ years of backend application services development experience.

Strong experience in backend service development using Java and/or .NET technologies.

Strong experience designing and developing REST APIs and microservices.
-
Experience working with Microsoft Azure, AWS or hybrid cloud environments.

Strong understanding of OAuth2, OpenID Connect and Enterprise SSO.

Experience with API testing, lifecycle management, and contract validation.

Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
-
Experience with containerized deployments and DevOps practices.
-
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based source control systems.

Strong understanding of secure application development, integration architecture and engineering best practices.

Experience conducting peer code reviews and enforcing coding standards.

Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools.

Demonstrated ability to validate AI-generated code, APIs, integrations and documentation against security, architecture, compliance and quality standards.
Good to Have:

Experience supporting mobile application backends and connected services ecosystems.

Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift or container orchestration platforms.

Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging platforms.

Exposure to API management, observability, logging and monitoring platforms.
Education:
Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or related field.
