# Job Description: Manager / Sr. Engineer – Purchase
Location: Bangalore Doddaballapura
### **Role Purpose**
As the Purchase Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and controlling procurement activities to ensure the timely availability of raw materials, components, and services required for smooth production operations. The primary focus will be on supplier sourcing team interaction, timely purchasing, and ensuring materials meet specified technical and quality standards.
This role involves close cross-functional coordination with Production, Stores, Quality, Sourcing, and Finance teams to align purchasing activities with operational requirements. Additionally, you will handle vendor evaluation, negotiation, purchase order management, and maintain accurate procurement records utilizing the SAP MM module.
### **Strategic Priorities & Key Outcomes**
* **Timely Execution:** Release Purchase Orders against approved PRs on time and ensure punctual vendor deliveries to support production schedules.
* **Quality & Specification:** Procure materials strictly in accordance with BOM, technical specifications, and quality norms.
* **Inventory & Cost Control:** Optimize inventory through safety stock adherence, drive cost reduction via negotiation/alternate sourcing, and control long lead-time or critical materials.
* **Vendor Governance:** Monitor vendor performance based on QCD (Quality, Cost, Delivery) parameters and handle rejections, replacements, and debit notes.
* **Compliance:** Maintain accurate procurement data in SAP MM and ensure strict compliance with company policies, statutory requirements, ethical sourcing norms, and commercial terms.
### **Main Responsibilities & Critical Tasks**
#### **Core Procurement & Operations**
* Manage day-to-day purchasing activities including PR verification, PO creation, follow-up, and closure.
* Coordinate with vendors for timely dispatch and delivery of materials as per production schedules.
* Verify material specifications, drawings, BOMs, and technical requirements before placing orders.
* Implement procurement controls to ensure optimal inventory levels and avoid shortages or excess stock.
* Monitor long lead-time and critical materials, taking proactive actions to prevent production impact.
#### **Cost Optimization & Vendor Management**
* Negotiate prices, commercial terms, and contracts for PO finalization in discussion with the sourcing team.
* Identify supply chain bottlenecks and collaborate with sourcing to explore alternate suppliers to improve competitiveness and reliability.
* Evaluate, develop, and monitor vendors based on QCD performance.
* Handle vendor material shortages, rejections, replacements, and debit notes in coordination with Quality and Stores.
#### **Communication, Quality, & Systems**
* Collaborate effectively with internal teams (Production, Planning, Stores, Quality, Finance) and external vendors to ensure a smooth material flow and resolve delays or quality issues.
* Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to ensure procured materials comply with defined standards and implement corrective actions for supplier quality issues.
* Maintain accurate purchasing data, records, and reports in the SAP MM system while supporting audits with proper documentation.
Salary: 5 LPA To 6LPA
**Job Requirements & Qualifications**
#### **Education & Experience**
* **Qualification:** Bachelor’s degree (3-4 years) in Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Business Administration.
* **Experience:** 2–3+ years of relevant experience in purchase/procurement operations.
#### **Skills & Technical Knowledge**
* **Systems:** Proficiency in **SAP MM & WM Modules** is required. Working knowledge or experience with **SAP PP** is a strong additional advantage.
* **Tools:** Proficient in MS Office and AutoCAD.
* **Methodologies:** Practical knowledge of KANBAN, Milk Run, 6S, Continuous Improvement Processes (CIP), Layout Plan & Material Flow Analysis, and FIFO concepts.
