To ensure the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff, the school is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Doctor / Medical Officer to manage the campus wellness centre, provide primary healthcare services, oversee preventive health initiatives, and respond to medical emergencies.
Position Summary
The Residential Doctor / Medical Officer will be responsible for providing round-the-clock medical supervision and healthcare support to students, hostel residents, teaching staff, and non-teaching employees. The Medical Officer shall oversee the school wellness centre, conduct routine health assessments, manage medical emergencies, maintain health records, and coordinate with hospitals and healthcare providers whenever required.
The role requires a professional who can combine medical expertise with empathy, preventive healthcare practices, and strong communication skills while working in a residential educational environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesStudent Healthcare Management
- Provide primary medical consultation and treatment to students during school and hostel hours.
- Diagnose and manage common illnesses, injuries, infections, allergies, and minor medical conditions.
- Conduct routine health assessments and monitor student health status.
- Maintain comprehensive medical records of all students.
- Monitor students with chronic medical conditions and special healthcare needs.
- Provide health counselling and wellness guidance to students.
Hostel Medical Supervision
- Ensure continuous medical support for residential hostel students.
- Conduct regular health rounds in hostel facilities.
- Monitor students admitted to the infirmary or observation room.
- Coordinate with hostel wardens regarding student health concerns.
- Advise hostel administration on hygiene, sanitation, nutrition, and preventive healthcare measures.
- Ensure availability of emergency medical support during nights, weekends, and school events.
Emergency Medical Response
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies occurring within the school campus, hostel, playgrounds, swimming pool, and sports facilities.
- Stabilize patients and provide first aid and emergency care.
- Coordinate ambulance services and hospital referrals when necessary.
- Maintain emergency medical response protocols and procedures.
- Train staff members in first aid and emergency response practices.
- Ensure readiness of emergency medical equipment and supplies.
Wellness Centre Management
- Supervise daily operations of the school wellness centre/infirmary.
- Maintain stock of medicines, medical supplies, and emergency equipment.
- Ensure compliance with medical protocols and healthcare standards.
- Maintain medicine inventory and usage records.
- Coordinate procurement of medicines and healthcare supplies.
- Ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards within the medical facility.
Preventive Healthcare Programs
- Conduct annual and periodic health check-ups for students and staff.
- Organize vaccination drives and immunization awareness programs.
- Implement preventive health and wellness initiatives.
- Conduct awareness sessions on:

- Nutrition and healthy eating
- Mental wellness
- Adolescent health
- Lifestyle diseases
- Sports injuries and prevention
- Substance abuse prevention
Sports & Physical Fitness Support
- Provide medical support during sports events, tournaments, and physical activities.
- Assess sports-related injuries and recommend treatment plans.
- Work closely with sports coaches and physical education teachers.
- Advise students on fitness, injury prevention, hydration, and recovery.
- Monitor athlete health and physical fitness concerns.
Parent & Staff Communication
- Communicate health concerns and treatment recommendations to parents.
- Provide medical updates regarding hospitalized or medically monitored students.
- Advise school staff regarding student medical conditions requiring special attention.
- Coordinate with school administration on health and safety matters.
Medical Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain confidential medical records and reports.
- Prepare monthly health and wellness reports.
- Maintain accident and incident reports.
- Ensure compliance with CBSE safety guidelines and health regulations.
- Support audits, inspections, accreditation visits, and statutory compliance requirements.
Infection Control & Public Health
- Develop and implement infection prevention protocols.
- Monitor communicable diseases and outbreak management.
- Advise school management during public health emergencies.
- Ensure proper sanitation and hygiene practices across campus.
- Coordinate health screening and isolation procedures when required.
QualificationsEssential Qualifications
Candidates must possess any one of the following:
- MBBS from a recognized Medical College and registered with the National Medical Commission (NMC).
- BHMS from a recognized institution and registered with the respective Medical Council.
- BAMS from a recognized institution and registered with the respective Medical Council.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Emergency Medicine, First Aid, BLS (Basic Life Support), or ACLS.
- Additional training in Child Health, Sports Medicine, Family Medicine, or School Health Services.
- Knowledge of adolescent health and residential school healthcare management.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of clinical experience in hospitals, schools, wellness centres, or healthcare institutions.
- Experience in residential schools, hostels, educational institutions, or sports academies will be preferred.
- Fresh candidates with exceptional qualifications and commitment may also be considered.
