Job Summary
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of backup concepts (full, incremental, snapshot, replication)
Hands-on experience with Rubrik CDM / Polaris / RSC, Commvault Console, Metallic
Experience with:
VMware / Hyper-V virtualization
Windows & Linux servers
Databases (SQL, Oracle)
Storage (SAN/NAS, NFS, CIFS)
Hybrid Cloud & On Prem Environment
Key Responsibilities
Deploy, configure, and manage Rubrik CDM / Rubrik Security Cloud (RSC), Commvault Console, Metallic platforms
Onboard workloads (VMs, databases, NAS, cloud workloads) into backup tools with required policies
Manage clusters, SLA domains, retention policies, replication, and archival
Monitor daily backup jobs and ensure SLA compliance
Troubleshoot failures, performance issues, and restore challenges
Perform backup validation and periodic restore testing
Monitor backup health, performance, and capacity
Resolve incidents and perform root cause analysis (RCA)
Optimize policies, storage usage, and backup efficiency
Create SOPs, runbooks, and technical documentation
Follow ITIL processes (incident, change, problem management)
Execute backup and restore in a virtualized infrastructure
Take snapshot backup in virtualized infrastructure
Perform back up task operations on-cloud & on prem infrastructure
Backup migration for database backups from different location/Regions.
Performance tuning and optimization for Rubrik and storage.
Work closely with Storage team for storage related issues.
Scripting / Automation of Major/ Complex Tasks ( added advantage)
Analyze existing backup environment and provide expert advice for optimizations
Understanding functionalities of key Backup components/processes
Deduplication/ Encryption / Replication / Reclamation / Migration / Snapshot / Retentions
Diagnose backup issues and follow up with root cause analysis.
Developing knowledge of data backup and restoration methodologies
Basic ability to apply change control procedures
Organizational skills with the ability to provide quality at pace
Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work under pressure
Ability to adapt to changing business and technology requirements.
Sound problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Skill Requirements
Competencies Required:
Experience Required 5+ Years of Backup Administration experience
Administration experience with Backup software such as: Commvault, Rubrik
Experience on Veeam & Cohesity will be added advantage.
