Rural Stay India is a travel and hospitality platform that helps travellers discover authentic village stays and meaningful rural experiences across India.
We are looking for a talented freelance content writer to create warm, engaging, informative, and SEO-friendly content for our website and blog.
The ideal writer should be able to combine storytelling with practical travel information. Our content should make readers imagine the place, understand the experience, and feel confident about booking a stay.
Responsibilities
- Write and improve website content, including homepage, destination pages, homestay listings, experience pages, and informational pages.
- Create engaging travel blogs about rural destinations, village tourism, local culture, food, traditions, nature, and unique stays in India.
- Research destinations, local experiences, travel routes, attractions, and relevant tourism information.
- Write content that reflects Rural Stay India’s brand voice: authentic, warm, sensory, trustworthy, and rooted in local culture.
- Create clear and compelling descriptions for homestays and rural experiences.
- Apply basic SEO practices, including keyword placement, search intent, headings, meta titles, meta descriptions, internal linking, and readability.
- Ensure that all content is original, factually accurate, grammatically correct, and free from plagiarism.
- Edit and revise content based on feedback.
- Work with the founder/team to understand content requirements and meet agreed deadlines.
- Suggest new content ideas and blog topics that can attract travellers interested in authentic and rural travel experiences.
- Daily Threshold: 500-1500 words
Requirements
- Excellent written English and strong storytelling ability.
- Previous experience writing plagiarism-free website content, travel content, blogs, or destination guides.
- Basic understanding of SEO content writing and Google search intent.
- Ability to write in a natural, human, and engaging style rather than using generic or repetitive language. (Using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude etc is not allowed)
- Strong research, editing, proofreading, and fact-checking skills.
- Ability to describe places, experiences, local food, culture, and hospitality vividly.
- Good communication and ability to work independently.
- A portfolio or writing samples are required.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in travel, tourism, hospitality, lifestyle, or local-culture content.
- Knowledge of Indian destinations and rural tourism.
- Familiarity with WordPress, Google Docs, Google Search Console, or SEO tools.
- Ability to understand and adapt to a defined brand tone.
- Hindi or knowledge of any Indian regional language will be an advantage.
Engagement details
- Freelance and remote position.
- Responsible for writing website content, regular travel blogs, destination guides, homestay descriptions, and other marketing content.
- Stipend will be discussed based on experience, content type, word count, and quality.
- Flexible schedule, but deadlines must be followed.
