Job Summary
Udhayam Group of Companies is looking for an experienced and dynamic Senior FMCG Purchase Manager to lead the procurement function for our hypermarket operations. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in FMCG purchasing, vendor management, inventory planning, and category buying with a proven track record of achieving cost savings and ensuring product availability.
Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement & Purchasing
- Handle end-to-end procurement of FMCG products.
- Develop annual and monthly purchase plans based on sales forecasts.
- Ensure optimum stock availability while minimizing excess inventory.
- Generate and approve Purchase Orders (POs).
- Monitor daily purchase requirements from stores and warehouses.
- Coordinate with department heads to understand purchasing needs.
Vendor Management
- Identify, evaluate, and appoint new suppliers and distributors.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing vendors.
- Negotiate prices, trade schemes, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
- Conduct periodic vendor performance reviews.
- Resolve supplier disputes and delivery issues promptly.
Category Management
- Manage categories such as:
- Grocery & Staples
- Beverages
- Dairy Products
- Frozen Foods
- Personal Care
- Home Care
- Snacks & Confectionery
- Baby Care Products
- Health & Wellness Products
Cost Control & Profitability
- Achieve annual cost-saving targets.
- Analyze market trends and competitor pricing.
- Negotiate promotional support and trade discounts from suppliers.
- Improve gross margins through strategic sourcing.
- Monitor purchase budgets and spending.
Inventory Control
- Coordinate with stores and warehouse teams for stock replenishment.
- Monitor slow-moving and non-moving inventory.
- Reduce stock-outs and excess inventory.
- Ensure accurate inventory records.
- Support stock audits and inventory verification activities.
Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly procurement reports.
- Maintain vendor agreements and procurement documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies.
- Present purchase performance reports to senior management.
- Monitor KPIs such as fill rate, lead time, and purchase savings.
Team Leadership
- Supervise and guide purchase executives and assistants.
- Train team members on procurement procedures.
- Allocate work and monitor team performance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the purchase department.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or related field.
- MBA in Supply Chain Management will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 3–12 years of experience in FMCG or retail procurement.
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, SAP, Tally, or retail software.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Preferred Experience
Candidates with experience in major retail chains, supermarkets, hypermarkets, wholesale distribution, or FMCG companies will be preferred.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
