Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Imports Manager to oversee and manage the end-to-end import process. The role is responsible for ensuring the timely, cost-effective, and compliant movement of goods from international suppliers to the company’s facilities or customers.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of import regulations, customs clearance, international shipping documentation, freight management, and supplier coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the complete import cycle, from purchase order confirmation to final delivery.
- Coordinate with overseas suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs brokers, transporters, and internal departments.
- Prepare, review, and maintain import documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, insurance documents, and import permits.
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations, trade policies, taxation requirements, and applicable import laws.
- Monitor shipments and provide timely updates on delivery schedules, delays, and exceptions.
- Arrange customs clearance and resolve documentation or classification issues.
- Verify HS codes, duties, taxes, landed costs, and other import-related charges.
- Negotiate freight rates and service agreements with logistics providers.
- Identify opportunities to reduce freight, demurrage, detention, storage, and clearance costs.
- Coordinate with finance teams for supplier payments, letters of credit, duty payments, and shipment-related expenses.
- Maintain accurate shipment records and prepare periodic import and logistics reports.
- Track supplier and service-provider performance against agreed timelines and service levels.
- Manage claims relating to shortages, damaged goods, shipment discrepancies, or insurance.
- Stay informed about changes in customs regulations, trade restrictions, tariffs, and international shipping practices.
- Develop and improve import procedures, controls, and standard operating processes.
- Support internal and external audits by providing accurate import records and documentation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, Commerce, or a related field.
- [5–8] years of experience in imports, international logistics, customs clearance, or supply-chain operations.
- At least [2–3] years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of customs procedures, import documentation, Incoterms, HS classification, duties, and taxes.
- Experience working with freight forwarders, customs brokers, shipping lines, and overseas suppliers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP or supply-chain management systems.
- Relevant certification in logistics, customs, or international trade is an advantage.

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹60,207.44 per month
