India is at the centre of significant growth, particularly in AI. As a Water Resources Manager on AWS's India team, you'll be at the forefront of enabling AI capacity in India by leading the responsible use of treated and recycled water for our data centres and pioneering innovative technologies in sustainable water sourcing.
AWS is seeking a Water Resources Manager to lead water infrastructure delivery for data center expansion. You will drive end-to-end execution of water projects—from due diligence and site selection through construction and start-up—while coordinating with utilities, internal engineering, operations, and real estate teams. At existing sites, you'll ensure reliable operation of water treatment systems, track performance metrics, and conduct root cause analysis when issues arise. You'll also support water sustainability initiatives and contribute subject matter expertise on water/wastewater treatment, disinfection, and supply resilience. The role requires ~20% regional travel.
This role offers the opportunity to shape how India's AI infrastructure is built responsibly—balancing cutting-edge technology deployment with water stewardship in one of the world's fastest-growing cloud markets.
Key job responsibilities
- Serve as the single-threaded leader for water infrastructure delivery supporting AWS data centre expansion in the Hyderabad region—directly enabling AI and cloud capacity growth in India.
- Partner with internal engineering, operations, real estate, and risk & resiliency teams to conduct water and wastewater due diligence for proposed new AWS facilities.
- Ensure water systems at existing sites operate reliably and do not adversely impact operations.
- Track and manage reliability, maintenance, and supply resilience of water systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and drive Corrective Actions (CA) for fleet-deployed water systems.
- Contribute to projects that advance water sustainability goals—helping AWS move toward water-positive outcomes in the region.
- Manage concurrent projects across the region, balancing delivery timelines with quality.
- Conduct site reviews, engineering evaluations, audits, and support site launches (~20% travel).
A day in the life
Your morning might begin with cross-functional calls alongside real estate and engineering teams—evaluating water availability, permitting pathways, and costs for new site proposals that will house the next wave of AI infrastructure. Mid-day could involve coordinating with local utilities on supply timelines, reviewing hydraulic designs, assessing alternate water sources for resilience, or analysing contractor proposals for pipeline or treatment upgrades. You might wrap up the day updating project trackers and briefing leadership on sustainability progress or delivery milestones.
No two days are identical—you'll navigate due diligence, troubleshooting, and stakeholder coordination across concurrent projects, with occasional site visits for audits and launches. You'll work alongside a supportive, collaborative team that values diverse perspectives, flexible working approaches, and continuous learning.
