Role Overview
We are looking for a results-driven and enthusiastic Business Development Manager to join our team at Skillopt Academy. In this role, you will be responsible for driving student enrolments, building institutional partnerships, and expanding the reach of our academy across the region. You will work directly with prospective students, educational institutions, and corporate partners to promote our courses and achieve enrolment targets.

Duties & Responsibilities
Student Acquisition & Enrolment
- Identify and reach out to prospective students through calls, walk-ins, social media, referrals, and community outreach.
- Conduct counselling sessions with prospective students and parents to understand their goals and recommend suitable courses.
- Convert leads into confirmed enrolments by effectively communicating course benefits, career outcomes, and fee structures.
- Maintain a consistent pipeline of leads and ensure steady enrolment numbers across all courses.
- Follow up regularly with interested candidates to move them through the enrolment process.
- Handle objections professionally and provide accurate information to help prospects make informed decisions.
Sales & Target Achievement
- Achieve monthly and quarterly enrolment targets set by the management.
- Earn performance-based commission: 5% of revenue for meeting base targets and 10% of revenue for exceeding targets, payable upon receipt of student fees.
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to maximize course enrolments and revenue.
- Track personal sales performance and report weekly updates to the management team.
- Identify opportunities to upsell or cross-sell additional courses or programmes to existing students.
Business Development & Partnerships
- Identify and develop partnerships with schools, colleges, universities, and other educational institutions to promote Skillopt Academy programmes.
- Establish tie-ups with companies and corporates for employee training, skill development programmes, and batch enrolments.
- Represent Skillopt Academy at education fairs, career expos, community events, and institutional visits.
- Develop strategies to enter new markets or localities within the region to grow the academy's student base.
- Negotiate and close partnership agreements with external organizations and referral partners.
- Build and maintain a strong referral network including alumni, placement contacts, and community influencers.
Marketing & Outreach Support
- Collaborate with the marketing team to plan and execute campaigns for course promotions, enrolment drives, and awareness events.
- Assist in creating promotional content ideas for social media, WhatsApp broadcasts, and digital ads to support lead generation.
- Organize and participate in open house events, orientation sessions, free workshops, and demo classes to attract prospective students.
- Gather and relay market feedback to the management team for course improvement and new programme planning.
Student Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with enrolled students to ensure satisfaction and reduce dropout rates.
- Act as a point of contact for student queries related to admissions, fees, batch schedules, and course details.
- Coordinate with trainers and the operations team to address student concerns and ensure a seamless enrolment experience.
- Encourage student referrals by maintaining positive relationships and delivering excellent pre-enrolment service.
Administrative & Reporting Duties
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of leads, prospects, follow-ups, and enrolments in the CRM system.
- Prepare and submit weekly and monthly performance reports including lead counts, conversion rates, and revenue generated.
- Monitor competitor academies and training center's to stay informed about market trends, pricing, and new course offerings.
- Coordinate with the accounts team to ensure fee collection is completed and reconciled on time.
- Assist in planning the annual business development strategy and setting realistic growth targets for the academy.
Compensation & Benefits
Fixed Monthly Salary - ₹15,000 – ₹25,000 per month (based on experience)
Base Target Commission - 5% of sales revenue upon achieving monthly enrolment target
Stretch Target Commission - 10% of sales revenue upon exceeding the set monthly target
Commission Payment - Payable upon successful receipt of student fees
Performance Review - Quarterly – with potential salary increment based on performance
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Education, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in sales, business development, or admissions — preferably in the education or EdTech sector.
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales or enrolment targets.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English, Malayalam, and/or Hindi.
- Ability to counsel and guide students and parents with clarity, patience, and empathy.
- Self-motivated with a target-oriented mindset and the ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in using CRM tools, MS Office, and basic digital communication platforms.
- Good understanding of the education landscape in Kerala, particularly in Malappuram district.
- Willingness to travel locally for outreach, partnerships, and promotional activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in an EdTech company or vocational training institute.
- Existing network within schools, colleges, or corporate HR departments in the region.
- Basic knowledge of digital marketing or tech courses to effectively counsel students.
- Experience in coordinating education fairs, webinars, or outreach campaigns.
