Senior Backend Developer (MERN Stack)

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Developer with 6–8 years of experience to join our product engineering team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in backend development using the MERN stack, hands-on experience in building scalable products, and the ability to design robust APIs and system architectures. You will play a key role in developing, optimizing, and maintaining core backend services for our products.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services for product-based applications
- Build and manage RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs using Node.js
- Architect and optimize database schemas using MongoDB
- Ensure high performance, security, and reliability of backend systems
- Collaborate closely with frontend developers, product managers, and DevOps teams
- Lead backend technical decisions and mentor junior developers
- Implement authentication, authorization, and data protection mechanisms
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
- Conduct code reviews and enforce best engineering practices
- Troubleshoot production issues and optimize system performance
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 6–8 years of professional experience in backend development
- Strong expertise in Node.js, Express.js
- Extensive experience with MongoDB (aggregation, indexing, performance tuning)
- Solid understanding of JavaScript (ES6+)
- Experience working in product-based environments (SaaS or large-scale products preferred)
- Strong knowledge of API design, microservices, and system architecture
- Experience with version control systems (Git)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
- Good understanding of security best practices and data protection
Good to Have
- Experience with React.js (basic understanding for collaboration)
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes
- Knowledge of Redis, message queues, or caching mechanisms
- Prior experience in high-traffic or scalable systems
