The Methoding Designer is responsible for designing gating and feeding systems for castings to ensure defect-free production with optimum yield and productivity. The role includes preparing methoding layouts, riser and runner design, simulation coordination, and supporting pattern/tool development for foundry operations.
Key Responsibilities Methoding & Casting Design
- Design gating, runner, riser, and feeding systems for castings.
- Prepare methoding layouts for sand casting, investment casting, or die casting processes.
- Optimize casting yield and reduce rejection.
- Select proper feeding and solidification methods.
Simulation & Analysis
- Coordinate casting simulation activities using software like MAGMASoft, AutoCAST, ProCAST, or AnyCasting.
- Analyze shrinkage, porosity, and filling defects.
- Modify designs based on simulation results.
Pattern & Tool Coordination
- Work with pattern shop and tooling teams.
- Prepare pattern allowances and core design details.
- Support pattern correction and trial activities.
Production Support
- Assist foundry production during new casting development.
- Troubleshoot casting defects and process issues.
- Improve productivity and casting quality.
Documentation
- Maintain method sheets and process documentation.
- Prepare BOMs, layouts, and technical reports.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of foundry processes and casting solidification.
- Understanding of gating and risering principles.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and 3D models.
- Knowledge of casting defects and remedies.
- Familiarity with CAD software.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
