Job Responsibilities – School Laboratory Assistant
- Prepare laboratory equipment, instruments, chemicals, and materials required for practical classes and experiments.
- Set up laboratory apparatus before classes and ensure proper cleaning, storage, and maintenance after use.
- Assist teachers and students during laboratory sessions by providing technical support and guidance on the correct use of equipment.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety rules and procedures, including the proper handling and disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials.
- Conduct routine inspections of laboratory equipment and report any faults, damages, or maintenance requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities, equipment maintenance, safety inspections, and inventory usage.
- Manage laboratory inventory by monitoring stock levels of chemicals, consumables, specimens, and scientific instruments, and initiating replenishment when necessary.
- Label, store, and organize laboratory materials and chemicals according to established safety standards.
- Keep laboratories clean, organized, and ready for instructional activities at all times.
- Support the implementation of health, safety, and environmental regulations within the laboratory.
- Assist in preparing demonstrations, experiments, and practical assessments as directed by teaching staff.
- Coordinate with faculty and administration to ensure the efficient operation of laboratory facilities.
- Safeguard laboratory assets and ensure all equipment is properly secured and accounted for.
- Provide first-level troubleshooting for laboratory equipment and arrange repairs when necessary.
- Stay updated on laboratory safety practices and participate in relevant training programs.
