Database Administrator (MongoDB / MariaDB)

Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) with strong hands-on expertise in MongoDB, MariaDB, MySQL, and Oracle databases.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database administration, performance tuning, monitoring, security, backup and recovery, troubleshooting, and production support across both relational and NoSQL database environments.
This role involves working closely with developers, SRE teams, system administrators, and other engineering teams to ensure database reliability, performance, availability, and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, secure, maintain, and optimize MongoDB, MariaDB, MySQL, and Oracle database environments.
- Manage database clusters across production and non-production environments.
- Perform database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Design and implement database backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Monitor database health, performance, capacity, and availability.
- Perform SQL and NoSQL performance tuning and troubleshoot database-related issues.
- Work with development teams to analyze and optimize queries and resolve application/database performance issues.
- Work closely with SRE and infrastructure teams to support data storage and reporting platforms.
- Support deployment, maintenance, scaling, and performance optimization of NoSQL database clusters.
- Evaluate and implement new database technologies and frameworks where required.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts for database administration and operational activities.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call support rotation for production database environments.
- Handle critical incidents and provide timely troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
- Maintain database security, access controls, monitoring, and operational documentation.
Must-Have Skills
- 8+ years of overall experience in database engineering, administration, and production support.
- Minimum 4+ years of hands-on DBA experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with MongoDB, MariaDB, and/or MySQL in production environments.
- Strong experience with NoSQL databases, including cluster deployment, maintenance, scaling, and performance tuning.
- Good understanding of both SQL and NoSQL database technologies and their use cases.
- Strong experience with Oracle / PostgreSQL / SQL / MySQL / MongoDB / MariaDB or similar database technologies.
- Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
- Good understanding of network and infrastructure-related database issues.
- Strong SQL skills and query optimization experience.
- Experience with database backup, restore, recovery, monitoring, and performance optimization.
- Proficiency in scripting using Python and/or Shell scripting.
- Strong automation mindset with the ability to automate repetitive DBA tasks.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex database issues in production environments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
