Associate Pediatric Dentist (MDS – Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry)
Childhood Smiles | Kothanur, North Bangalore | Full-time
About Us
Childhood Smiles is a dedicated pediatric dental clinic in North Bangalore, caring exclusively for children from infancy through the teenage years. We are not a general practice with a children's corner — every protocol, every room, and every team member is built around the child. Our practice spans preventive care, behaviour-guided restorative treatment, interceptive orthodontics, tongue-tie and myofunctional care, and early screening for sleep-disordered breathing.
Job Summary
We are seeking an MDS-qualified Pediatric Dentist to join us as an Associate. This is a full-responsibility clinical role, not an assisting or observing one. You will carry your own patients from first consultation through treatment completion and recall — diagnosing, planning, presenting the plan to parents, and delivering the care yourself. You will have consultant support and a structured mentorship, but the case is yours.
We are looking for someone who wants to build a long-term pediatric practice and a reputation of their own, and who sees clinical ownership as an opportunity rather than a burden.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Care
- Conduct comprehensive pediatric dental examinations, diagnosis, and treatment planning for patients aged 0–14.
- Perform the full scope of pediatric restorative and surgical procedures: pulpectomy and pulpotomy, stainless steel and zirconia crowns, composite restorations, space maintainers, extractions, and habit-breaking appliances.
- Apply age-appropriate behaviour guidance techniques; manage anxious and pre-cooperative children with patience and skill.
- Deliver preventive care: fluoride application, sealants, dietary counselling, and caries risk assessment.
- Manage pediatric dental emergencies and trauma cases.
Patient & Parent Communication
- Explain the diagnosis, treatment plan, alternatives, timeline, and cost to parents in clear, jargon-free language — and confirm the parent has genuinely understood before proceeding.
- Build trust with parents so that treatment decisions are made with confidence rather than hesitation.
- Counsel parents on oral hygiene, diet, habits, and post-treatment care.
- Handle parent concerns and second opinions calmly and professionally.
Clinical Ownership & Accountability
- Own your patient list end-to-end: consultation, treatment plan, delivery, follow-up, and recall.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation in the practice management system.
- Track and take responsibility for your own treatment acceptance, completion, and recall compliance rates.
- Be reachable and accountable for your own patients' post-operative concerns.
Team & Practice Contribution
- Guide and support dental assistants and BDS colleagues in chairside protocols and case preparation.
- Participate in weekly clinical case discussions and monthly practice reviews.
- Contribute to parent education content, community outreach, school dental programmes, and clinic awareness initiatives.
- Support quality improvement in clinical protocols and the patient experience.
Infection Control & Compliance
- Adhere strictly to infection control and sterilization protocols, including correct PPE use.
- Ensure radiographic safety practices (AERB norms) and safe handling of materials and sharps.
- Comply with all applicable dental council, clinical establishment, and patient data privacy requirements (DPDP Act, 2023).
Qualifications
- MDS in Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry from a Dental Council of India–recognized institution.
- Valid registration with the Karnataka State Dental Council (or transferable registration).
- 0–4 years of post-MDS clinical experience — fresh MDS graduates with strong clinical exposure are encouraged to apply.
- Demonstrated competence in behaviour management and pediatric restorative procedures.
- Fluency in English and Kannada or Hindi. (Additional languages are a plus given our patient mix.)
Who We're Looking For
- Someone genuinely warm with children — this cannot be trained.
- A dentist who wants their own patients and is comfortable being the doctor a parent trusts and calls back for.
- Someone who communicates treatment plans clearly enough that parents say yes with confidence, not confusion.
- A long-term thinker interested in growing with the practice, not treating it as a stopgap.
What We Offer
- Full clinical autonomy with senior consultant support available, not imposed.
- Structured mentorship from Dr. Debarchhana Jena during a defined onboarding period, tapering as you take full charge.
- A growth path to Senior Associate and Clinical Lead.
- Support to build your own professional profile: named consultant listing, case documentation, and content contributions.
- A fully equipped pediatric setup with a trained chairside team, so you can focus on dentistry.
- A predictable schedule with defined clinical and administrative hours.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a clinical discussion and a working day at the clinic.
