Qualification & Experience Qualification Minimum Experience B.E./ B.Tech Mechanical or Electrical Engineering1 Year Diploma Mechanical or Electrical Engineering3 Years ITI Refrigeration & Air Conditioning / Mechanical -5 Years.

Job Purpose
To supervise the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of Vapour Absorption Machines (VAM), Water Cooled Chillers, Pumps, and associated HVAC utilities while ensuring maximum equipment availability with minimum downtime.
Key Responsibilities Operation
- Operate Vapour Absorption Machines in accordance with OEM guidelines.
- Operate Water Cooled Chillers safely and efficiently.
- Monitor chilled water and condenser water systems.
- Maintain the required chilled water supply temperature.
- Monitor operating parameters and equipment performance.
- Carry out start-up and shutdown procedures.
- Ensure uninterrupted cooling to process and comfort air conditioning systems.
Preventive Maintenance
- Execute preventive maintenance schedules.
- Inspect compressors, pumps, cooling towers, and motors.
- Check bearings, coupling alignment, and vibration.
- Inspect valves, strainers, and pipelines.
- Lubricate rotating equipment.
- Replace consumables as per maintenance schedules.
- Maintain preventive maintenance records.
Vapour Absorption Machine (VAM) Responsibilities
- Monitor generator, absorber, condenser, and evaporator temperatures.
- Monitor vacuum level.
- Check Lithium Bromide solution concentration and level.
- Prevent crystallization.
- Monitor purge unit operation.
- Monitor steam or hot water supply.
- Ensure adequate cooling water flow.
- Coordinate water and solution chemical testing.
Water Cooled Chiller Responsibilities
- Monitor suction and discharge pressures.
- Monitor oil pressure and oil temperature.
- Monitor compressor current.
- Monitor chilled water and condenser water temperatures.
- Check refrigerant level.
- Identify abnormal noise or vibration.
- Ensure optimum Coefficient of Performance (COP).
Pump Responsibilities
- Inspect mechanical seals.
- Check bearing temperatures.
- Monitor vibration levels.
- Verify pump alignment.
- Monitor suction and discharge pressures.
- Prime pumps whenever required.
Troubleshooting
Attend and rectify faults related to:
- High pressure trips
- Low pressure trips
- Compressor overload
- Low chilled water flow
- High condenser pressure
- Vacuum leakage
- VAM crystallization
- Pump failures
- Motor failures
- Cooling tower faults
- Instrumentation failures
- BMS alarms
Documentation
Maintain:
- Daily operation logbook
- Breakdown reports
- Preventive maintenance reports
- Equipment history records
- Utility consumption records
- Shift handover reports
- Spare parts inventory records
Safety Responsibilities
- Follow all site safety procedures.
- Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Follow Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
- Work under Permit to Work (PTW) systems wherever applicable.
- Follow confined space and hot work procedures.
- Report unsafe conditions immediately.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards.
Team Supervision
- Guide HVAC technicians/Operator during maintenance activities.
- Allocate daily work assignments.
- Verify quality and completion of maintenance work.
- Ensure manpower discipline.
- Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams.
- Supervise contractor activities whenever required.
