What this job involves:
Joins JLL’s Capital Markets Services controllership team as a Controllership Manager with responsibility for all aspects of accounting and reporting for JLL’s broker-dealer, JLL Securities LLC.
This position combines technical accounting expertise with strategic business partnership, supporting SEC reporting requirements while driving process improvements in a fast-paced commercial real estate environment.
You'll perform a variety of professional level accounting duties involved in preparing, maintaining, analysing, verifying, and reconciling moderately complex financial transactions, statements, records, and reports. You will maintain the accuracy of the ledgers and financial systems, perform month, quarter and year end closing procedures, prepare monthly and annual stand-alone financial reports, work directly with the FINOP and Chief Compliance Officer to ensure proper segregation and reporting of JLL Securities transactions, facilitate the annual audit, and act as the accounting and finance guru for JLL Securities.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Own and understand all aspects of the JLL Securities general ledger and stand-alone reporting
Record month-end journal entries and provide support, as needed, for monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement analyses
Perform monthly balance sheet and income statement reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner, escalating issues as necessary
Review individual security transactions and agreements to ensure revenue recognition requirements are met and are properly documented to FINRA standards, lead quarterly meeting with key stakeholders
Ensure proper accounting treatment is applied to all transactions and expenses adhere to US GAAP and SOX regulatory reporting requirements
Work with the FINOP to calculate and maintain a net capital usage schedule in compliance with FOCUS requirements
Prepare and issue stand-alone financial statements for filing with the SEC and FINRA
Facilitate annual SOX compliance and financial statement audits, walking through key controls, providing audit schedules and answering auditor questions
Identify opportunities for improvement to JLL Securities’ accounting processes and controls with a focus on finding efficiencies while maintaining quality of financial information
Participate, as time allows, in ad hoc projects that further the strategic initiatives of JLL’s Capital Markets Services team and JLL’s Global organization
Coordinate and collaborate with Capital Markets Services, Regional and Global JLL teams
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA a plus
7-10 years of accounting experience
Real Estate experience preferred
Supervisory experience a plus
Advanced accounting and analytical skills
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet applications required; experience with PeopleSoft a plus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated consistency in values, principles and work ethic
Ability to work independently and within a team to build relationships and interact effectively with business partners
Ability to multi-task, work successfully under pressure, and effectively prioritize and manage time and workload to meet client needs
Willingness to take on new challenges, responsibilities, and assignments
