WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a Curriculum Specialist – English Language Learning to design rigorous, sequenced, and engaging curriculum resources for English language development across grade levels.
This role requires a strong foundation in language pedagogy and second language acquisition, alongside hands-on experience designing unit flows, lesson sequences, assessments, and both student- and teacher-facing resources. You will help build a curriculum that moves beyond rote language practice toward authentic communication, reading comprehension, writing development, and meaningful language use across contexts. You should be comfortable using technology to design, format, and enhance curricular materials.
Essential Qualifications:
- Relevant degree in Education and Masters Degree in English Language Teaching, Applied Linguistics, or a related field.
- Relevant classroom teaching experience in English language learning or literacy.
- Minimum 3 years of curriculum development experience, including unit planning, lesson sequencing, assessment design, and development of student- and teacher-facing resources in English language learning.
Preference will be given to candidates who have:
- Experience with national or international English language frameworks (e.g., CEFR, NEP 2020).
- Experience in competency-based or proficiency-oriented curriculum design.
- Experience working on large-scale curriculum projects.
Note: A remote work arrangement may be available for exceptional candidates, subject to role requirements and organisational needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and develop the scope and sequence of English language learning units across grade levels, including the lesson progression and learning arc within each unit.
- Apply expertise in language pedagogy and second language acquisition to arrive at clear, measurable learning goals.
- Design engaging, scaffolded learning experiences that build language skills progressively, support learners at varied proficiency levels, and promote authentic language use.
- Ensure coherent alignment between learning goals, instructional approaches, and assessments at the unit and lesson level.
- Design assessments that reflect language proficiency and skill application rather than surface-level recall.
- Develop and review lesson plans, ensuring academic rigour, linguistic scaffolding, conceptual clarity, and practical classroom usability.
- Create and review high-quality student-facing resources (texts, tasks, graphic organisers, practice materials) and teacher-facing resources (facilitation guides, annotation keys, pedagogical notes).
- Use technology tools confidently to design, format, and produce polished curricular materials for both print and digital contexts.
- Collaborate with curriculum developers and teacher training teams to ensure coherence and progression across materials and grade levels.
- Observe classroom pilots of English language units and use implementation feedback to refine curriculum design and effectiveness.
- Stay informed about emerging research and best practices in English language teaching and integrate relevant insights into curriculum development.
