Job Summary
The Junior Civil Engineer is responsible for assisting in the execution, supervision, and monitoring of construction activities at the project site. The role involves supporting senior engineers in ensuring that work is carried out as per approved drawings, technical specifications, quality standards, safety regulations, and project timelines. The Junior Civil Engineer will coordinate with contractors, vendors, consultants, and internal teams while maintaining accurate project documentation and ensuring smooth site operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesSite Execution & Supervision
- Assist in supervising day-to-day construction activities at the project site.
- Monitor work execution to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and construction schedules.
- Support the execution of civil, structural, finishing, and MEP-related works.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and site supervisors to ensure uninterrupted progress.
- Escalate technical and site-related issues to senior engineers for timely resolution.
- Verify work completion before reporting progress.
Planning & Coordination
- Assist in preparing daily and weekly work schedules.
- Coordinate material requirements with the Purchase and Stores departments.
- Monitor material consumption and report shortages.
- Participate in project planning meetings and daily site coordination discussions.
- Track project progress against planned schedules.
Quality Control
- Conduct routine quality inspections under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Verify workmanship and ensure materials conform to project specifications.
- Assist in consultant inspections and quality audits.
- Maintain quality inspection records and checklists.
- Ensure corrective actions are implemented for identified quality issues.
Safety Management
- Follow and promote compliance with company HSE policies and statutory safety regulations.
- Participate in daily safety briefings and toolbox talks.
- Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices on site.
- Report unsafe conditions and assist in implementing corrective measures.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain daily site diaries, progress reports, and work measurement records.
- Assist in preparing weekly and monthly progress reports.
- Record material receipts, consumption, and site activities.
- Maintain updated records of drawings, approvals, inspection reports, and site instructions.
- Support preparation of contractor measurement sheets and project documentation.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, vendors, and internal departments for day-to-day site activities.
- Assist senior engineers during consultant visits and inspections.
- Attend site meetings and record minutes of meetings (MoM) when required.
- Support statutory approval and documentation activities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (B.E./B.Tech Civil) or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
- Fresh graduates or candidates with relevant internships are encouraged to apply.
- Certifications in AutoCAD, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Safety will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 1–4 years of experience in construction project execution.
- Exposure to commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure projects will be preferred.
Technical Skills
- Basic knowledge of RCC construction, finishing works, and construction methodologies.
- Understanding of engineering drawings and construction specifications.
- Basic knowledge of MEP coordination.
- Familiarity with construction quality standards and safety practices.
- Proficiency in:
- AutoCAD
- MS Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
- MS Project (preferred)
