In alignment with CBSE guidelines on student well-being and mental health, we are seeking a qualified and compassionate School Counsellor / Wellness Teacher to support students' social, emotional, behavioral, and academic development.
Position Summary
The School Counsellor / Wellness Teacher will be responsible for promoting students' mental health, emotional well-being, life skills, and personal development. The role includes providing counselling support, conducting wellness programs, guiding students on academic and career-related concerns, and collaborating with parents and teachers to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesStudent Counselling & Support
- Provide individual and group counselling to students facing academic, emotional, social, or behavioral challenges.
- Identify students requiring psychological, emotional, or behavioral intervention and provide appropriate support.
- Assist students in developing self-confidence, resilience, emotional regulation, and interpersonal skills.
- Support students during periods of stress, transition, examination anxiety, and personal challenges.
- Maintain confidential counselling records and case documentation.
Wellness & Life Skills Education
- Plan and conduct wellness, life skills, and social-emotional learning (SEL) programs.
- Organize workshops on mental health awareness, stress management, cyber safety, bullying prevention, emotional well-being, and healthy lifestyle practices.
- Promote positive behaviour, empathy, self-awareness, and responsible decision-making among students.
- Support implementation of CBSE wellness and inclusive education initiatives.
Parent & Teacher Collaboration
- Work closely with teachers to identify and support students requiring intervention.
- Conduct parent counselling and guidance sessions when required.
- Provide strategies to teachers and parents for supporting students' emotional and behavioral needs.
- Participate in Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) and student support meetings.
Career & Academic Guidance
- Guide students regarding study habits, goal setting, academic planning, and personal growth.
- Support middle and secondary school students with career awareness and career planning activities.
- Organize career guidance sessions, aptitude awareness programs, and educational workshops.
Child Protection & Student Welfare
- Support the school's Child Protection and Safeguarding policies.
- Assist in addressing concerns related to bullying, peer conflicts, emotional distress, and student welfare.
- Work in coordination with school leadership on student well-being initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with CBSE guidelines related to student wellness and safety.
Professional Development
- Stay updated with current counselling practices, child psychology, adolescent development, and educational wellness programs.
- Conduct awareness sessions for staff on student mental health and well-being.
- Participate actively in school events, workshops, and professional development programs.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Child Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Diploma or Certification in School Counselling, Guidance and Counselling, or Child Psychology will be preferred.
- B.Ed. qualification will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of CBSE School Wellness and Inclusive Education Guidelines is desirable.
Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a School Counsellor, Wellness Teacher, Psychologist, or related role.
- Experience working with children and adolescents in an educational setting is preferred.
- Freshers with relevant qualifications and strong counselling skills may also apply.
