Job Requirements
At Quest Global, it’s not just what we do but how and why we do it that makes us different. With over 25 years as an engineering services provider, we believe in the power of doing things differently to make the impossible possible. Our people are driven by the desire to make the world a better place—to make a positive difference that contributes to a brighter future. We bring together technologies and industries, alongside the contributions of diverse individuals who are empowered by an intentional workplace culture, to solve problems better and faster.
We are seeking a versatile and highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to take ownership of our complete enclosure systems. In this dual-focus role, you will design both the external sheet metal cabinets/consoles and the heavy structural steel frames or base skids that support them.
Utilizing Autodesk Inventor, you will create seamless, manufacturing-ready 3D models and 2D production drawings. This position focuses purely on robust CAD design and drafting for physical production.
Key Responsibilities
Sheet Metal Layouts: Design complex sheet metal panels, internal mounting layouts, and component brackets. Generate precise flat patterns, calculating accurate bend allowances for the shop floor.
-
Comprehensive 3D Modeling: Create integrated 3D parts, assemblies, and sub-assemblies for custom sheet metal cabinets, rack mounts, and their underlying heavy-duty structural steel support frames.
-
Production Drafting & Detailing: Produce clear, fully dimensioned 2D engineering drawings for fabrication. Apply appropriate GD&T, fits, tolerances, and standardized welding symbols.
-
BOM & Hardware Management: Generate and maintain detailed, production-ready Bills of Materials (BOM), explicitly detailing structural profiles, sheet metal gauges, fasteners, hinges, and latches.
-
Design for Manufacturing (DFM): Ensure all designs are optimized for shop-floor processes, including laser cutting, press brake bending, structural welding, hardware insertion (PEM fasteners), and finishing (powder coating/galvanizing).•
We are known for our extraordinary people who make the impossible possible every day. Questians are driven by hunger, humility, and aspiration. We believe that our company culture is the key to our ability to make a true difference in every industry we reach. Our teams regularly invest time and dedicated effort into internal culture work, ensuring that all voices are heard.
We wholeheartedly believe in the diversity of thought that comes with fostering a culture rooted in respect, where everyone belongs, is valued, and feels inspired to share their ideas. We know embracing our unique differences makes us better, and that solving the worlds hardest engineering problems requires diverse ideas, perspectives, and backgrounds. We shine the brightest when we tap into the many dimensions that thrive across over 21,000 difference-makers in our workplace.
Work Experience
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural/Civil Engineering, or a dedicated CAD/Drafting discipline.
-
Experience: 3+ years of professional engineering design experience successfully combining both sheet metal cabinet/enclosure design and heavy structural frame/skid fabrication.
-
CAD Expertise: Advanced, daily proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, specifically within the Sheet Metal, Part creation and Large Assembly environments.
-
Fabrication Knowledge: Deep understanding of metal workshop constraints, structural steel properties, welding callouts, and hardware integration.
