We are looking for a skilled and experienced Design Engineer specializing in Fixture Design, Cavity Design, and Tooling Development. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and improving jigs, fixtures, and cavity components used in manufacturing and automation systems.
The role requires strong knowledge of CAD software, machining processes, and manufacturing standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop jigs, fixtures, gauges, and cavity components
- Create 2D detailed drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks / AutoCAD / CATIA
- Develop fixture concepts for machining, assembly, and automation processes
- Design cavity blocks and tooling components for production requirements
- Ensure designs follow GD&T and engineering standards
- Perform design validation and modification based on feedback
- Coordinate with production, machining, and quality teams
- Prepare BOM (Bill of Materials) and technical documentation
- Support troubleshooting and improvements of existing fixtures
- Optimize designs for cost, efficiency, and manufacturability
Required Skills
- Strong experience in Fixture & Cavity Design
- Proficiency in SolidWorks / AutoCAD / CATIA
- Good knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- Understanding of CNC machining, sheet metal, and tool room processes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Knowledge of tolerance stack-up and manufacturing processes
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience in SPM (Special Purpose Machines)
- Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics systems
- Exposure to automotive / precision engineering industry
- Experience in design optimization and cost reduction
Education Qualification
- Diploma / B.E / B.Tech – Mechanical Engineering
