The production manager will be responsible for leading and managing end to end manufacturing operations of polymer,emulsion,adhesive,paint,resin and speciality chemical production plants. The role involves ensuring safe, efficient and cost-effective production while maintaining the highest standards of quality, environmental compliance, productivity and customer satisfaction.
The incumbent will drive continuous improvement initiatives, optimize plant performance, manage cross-functional coordination and lead manufacturing teams to achieve organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Operations Management:
- Lead and manage daily plant operations to achieve production targets, quality standards and delivery schedules.
- Plant, organize and control production activities for optimum utilization of manpower, machinery, utilities and raw materials.
- Monitor plant KPIs including OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), productivity, cycle time, yield, downtime and capacity utilization
- Ensure adherence to SOPs,GMP, safety standards and regulatory requirements
Process Manufacturing Activities:
Manage and supervise manufacturing processes including:
- Polymerization Processes
- Dispersion Manufacturing
- Emulsion Manufacturing
- Monomeric Reactions
- Acrylation Processes
- Distillation Operations
- Sulfonation/Sulphuration Processes
- Resin Manufacturing
- Adhesive Manufacturing
- Paint and Coating Production
- Batch and Continuous Process Operations
Process Improvement and Optimization:
- Drive Lean Manufacturing, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance0, Kaizen, DMAIC (Define,Measure,Analyze,Improve and Control and Continuous Improvement initiatives)
- Optimize process parameters to improve productivity,reduce waste and enhance product quality
- Identify and implement cost-saving and capacity enhancement projects
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of process-related issues.
Safety,Health and Environment (SHE)
- Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements related to Safety, Health, Environment and Factory Operations.
- Maintain compliance with pollution control board, factory act,legal metrology and other regulatory bodies
- Conduct risk assessments, safety audits and corrective actions
- Promote a strong safety culture across the organization
Quality Management:
- Ensure compliance quality management systems and customer specifications
- Collaborate with QA/QQC teams to maintain product quality and process consistency
- Lead corrective and preventive actions for quality deviations
Maintenance & Engineering Coordination
- Coordinate with Maintenance and Engineering teams for preventive and predictive maintenance activities
- Support CAPEX projects, equipment selection, installation, commissioning and process automation initiatives
- Ensure maximum equipment availability and reliability
Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination
- Monitor raw material and finishes goods inventory
- Coordinate with procurement, stores, planning, sales and logistics functions
- Ensure uninterrupted production through effective material planning
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor and develop production teams
- Conduct performance reviews and skill development programs
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork and operational excellence
Management Reporting
- Prepare production reports, MIS, KPI dashboards and performance reviews
- Present operational performance and improvement initiatives to senior management
Qualification:
- Bachelor of Engineering (B.E/B.Tech) in Chemical Engineering
Experience
- Minimum 15+ years of experience in chemical, polymer, resin, adhesive, paints coatings, emulsion or Speciality Chemical Manufacturing
- Extensive experience in production management, plant operations, process engineering, quality, safety and continuous improvement
- Experience in handling large-scale manufacturing operations and cross-functional teams
