- Candidates with Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science backgrounds are preferred.
Mandatory Certifications
- NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) Certification or
- OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) Certification or
- IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) Certification is mandatory.Job Summary
The Safety Engineer will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards across construction project sites. The role involves ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, company safety policies, and industry best practices to create a safe working environment for all employees and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement site-specific safety plans, procedures, and risk assessments.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and hazard identification activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, client requirements, and company policies.
- Conduct safety induction programs and toolbox talks for employees and subcontractors.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-miss events and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and enforce safety compliance.
- Prepare and maintain safety records, reports, permits, and documentation.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness and response activities at project sites.
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, contractors, and regulatory authorities on safety matters.
- Promote a strong safety culture across all project activities.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of construction safety practices and regulations.
- Excellent understanding of risk assessment and hazard control measures.
- Good communication, training, and reporting skills.
- Ability to conduct safety audits and incident investigations.
- Proficiency in MS Office and safety documentation.
