VMC & HMC Operator – Roles & Responsibilities
- Operate VMC (Vertical Machining Center) and HMC (Horizontal Machining Center) machines as per production requirements.
- Read and understand engineering drawings, work instructions, process sheets, and machining specifications.
- Set and operate the machine as per the approved process and job requirements.
- Load and unload components properly using suitable fixtures and work-holding devices.
- Perform tool setting, tool offset setting, work offset setting, and tool wear compensation.
- Understand and operate CNC programs as per the approved process.
- Check and adjust cutting parameters such as spindle speed, feed rate, and depth of cut when required.
- Monitor the machining process and ensure smooth machine operation.
- Conduct in-process inspection using instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and other measuring instruments.
- Ensure components are manufactured within the specified dimensional tolerances and quality standards.
- Identify and report machining defects, tool wear, abnormal machine conditions, and quality issues.
- Replace worn or damaged cutting tools as required and maintain proper tool life.
- Perform basic machine cleaning, lubrication, and daily maintenance activities.
- Record production quantities, rejection, rework, downtime, and inspection details accurately.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and follow 5S standards in the work area.
- Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements while operating CNC machines.
- Coordinate with the Production, Quality, Tool Room, and Maintenance teams to resolve process-related issues.
- Minimize machine downtime, rejection, rework, tool consumption, and material wastage.
- Achieve daily production targets while maintaining the required quality standards.
- Follow company procedures, work instructions, and safety and quality standards.
Required Skills
- Experience in operating VMC/HMC CNC machines.
- Knowledge of CNC machine operation and machining processes.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T and dimensional tolerances.
- Knowledge of tool setting, offset correction, and basic CNC program understanding.
- Experience with precision measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of cutting tools and machining parameters.
- Knowledge of 5S, safety, and quality practices.
- Ability to work in shifts and meet production targets.
Pay: ₹15,086.00 - ₹33,938.00 per month
