Designation - Chief Technology Officer
Location - Mumbai
Experience - 7–10 years, including at least 3 years in a technology leadership role
About the Role
We are looking for a senior, hands-on Chief Technology Officer to lead the technology, AI, automation and cybersecurity agenda across a group of companies.
This is not a conventional IT role. It is a founding technology leadership position with responsibility for building the technology function from the ground up, establishing the group's AI strategy, strengthening cybersecurity and data protection, automating business processes and delivering technology solutions that create measurable business value.
The CTO will work directly with the Managing Partner and leadership teams to identify where technology and, in particular, Artificial Intelligence can improve efficiency, reduce costs, enhance client experience, strengthen decision-making and create competitive advantage.
The ideal candidate will be a strategist and builder — someone who can identify the right technology, build or configure solutions, manage vendors and drive adoption across teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Artificial Intelligence - Strategy, Deployment & Enablement
AI will be a core mandate of this role.
- Own and drive the group's AI strategy and roadmap.
- Identify and implement practical AI use cases across legal, healthcare, finance, HR, marketing, business development and operations.
- Evaluate and implement AI platforms, including general-purpose and domain-specific solutions.
- Design, build or configure AI agents, assistants, RAG-based systems and AI-powered workflows for business use.
- Develop solutions for areas such as legal research, contract review, knowledge management, client/patient enquiries, CRM follow-ups, HR support and document automation.
- Establish responsible AI practices covering confidentiality, data controls, human review and verification.
- Lead structured training and enablement programmes to help teams effectively and responsibly use AI and new technology tools, with function-specific sessions, ongoing support and adoption tracking.
- Drive AI adoption and measure business impact.
2. Technology Strategy & Product Delivery
- Develop the group's technology roadmap and make clear build-versus-buy recommendations.
- Identify and implement technology solutions that improve productivity, client experience and operations.
- Lead delivery of websites, portals, CRM systems, dashboards, clinic systems, internal applications and other business technology.
- Manage the complete delivery lifecycle, including requirements, vendor selection, development, testing, deployment and support.
- Ensure new systems integrate effectively with the existing technology ecosystem, including Zoho and Tally.
3. Automation & Process Re-engineering
- Identify repetitive, manual and inefficient workflows across the group.
- Implement automation using AI, low-code/no-code platforms or custom development.
- Automate processes such as document generation, billing, onboarding, reporting, approvals, follow-ups and internal workflows.
- Measure and report time, cost and productivity savings from automation initiatives.
4. Cybersecurity & Data Protection
- Own the group's cybersecurity and information-security framework.
- Implement appropriate controls covering access management, MFA, endpoint security, encryption, backups and disaster recovery.
- Ensure appropriate protection of legal, client, financial and patient data.
- Conduct security due diligence on technology, SaaS and AI vendors.
- Drive compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and relevant security standards.
- Develop and maintain IT, information-security, acceptable-use, incident-response and Responsible AI policies.
- Conduct periodic security awareness and training initiatives.
5. Data, Analytics & Governance
- Establish reliable sources of truth across the group and improve data quality.
- Develop dashboards covering financial, operational, people and business-development metrics.
- Use analytics to support better decision-making, forecasting and performance management.
- Own the technology budget, vendor management, licences and technology governance.
6. Leadership & Advisory
- Act as the technology advisor to the Managing Partner and leadership team.
- Proactively identify emerging technologies, AI opportunities and cybersecurity risks.
- Manage technology vendors, developers, agencies and external partners.
- Build the technology function and team as the organisation scales.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or a related discipline.
- 7–10 years of technology experience, including at least 3 years in a technology leadership role.
- Strong, hands-on experience implementing AI/LLM solutions in a real business environment, beyond pilots or demonstrations.
- Experience with AI agents, RAG, automation, APIs and AI-powered workflows.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity, information security and data protection.
- Working knowledge of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and familiarity with ISO 27001 or similar frameworks.
- Experience delivering technology projects end to end and managing external vendors.
- Strong communication, stakeholder-management and training skills, with the ability to work effectively with non-technical teams.
What We Are Looking For
- AI-first mindset with strong practical implementation skills.
- Builder's instinct and willingness to be hands-on.
- Strong business and commercial judgement.
- High standards of confidentiality and cybersecurity awareness.
- Ability to simplify complex technology and train non-technical teams effectively.
- Strong ownership, initiative and ability to work independently.
