About the Role
Aha! Baangali is seeking a dedicated Assistant Chef to support the Head Chef in delivering exceptional Bengali dishes. This role requires hands-on cooking experience and a genuine passion for authentic regional cuisine.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in preparing and cooking Bengali dishes to recipe standards
- Handle mise en place like chopping, marinating and preparation of ingredients
- Manage a specific kitchen station (e.g. gravy, fry, rice/dal) as assigned
- Ensure proper storage and handling of raw materials and cooked food
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards at the workstation at all times
- Step in to manage kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef
- Assist in training and guiding kitchen helpers
- Support inventory tracking and flag shortages to the Head Chef
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 1-2 years of cooking experience, ideally in Bengali or Indian cuisine
- Good understanding of spices, cooking techniques and regional flavors of Bengal
- Ability to work efficiently in a team environment
- Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards
- Willingness to work in shifts including weekends and public holidays
Preferred (Good to Have)
- Experience cooking fish-based and mustard-oil dishes typical to Bengali cuisine
- Ability to manage a station independently during busy service periods
Pay: Up to ₹22,000.00 per month
