Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Purchase Manager to oversee the procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, machinery spares, and other operational requirements for our nut manufacturing business. The ideal candidate should possess strong vendor management, negotiation, and inventory planning skills while ensuring timely procurement at the best quality and competitive prices.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure raw materials such as peanuts, edible ingredients, spices, oil, and other production inputs.
- Purchase packaging materials, cartons, labels, pouches, and consumables.
- Develop and maintain relationships with reliable suppliers and vendors.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to optimize procurement costs.
- Generate Purchase Orders (POs) and monitor order execution.
- Coordinate with Production, Stores, Quality, and Accounts departments for smooth procurement operations.
- Ensure uninterrupted availability of materials to avoid production delays.
- Monitor inventory levels and plan purchases based on production forecasts.
- Conduct market research to identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative suppliers.
- Maintain procurement records, vendor database, and purchase documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and quality standards.
- Handle vendor performance evaluation and resolve supply-related issues.
Required Skills
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Knowledge of procurement processes and inventory planning.
- Good understanding of FMCG purchasing practices.
- Ability to manage multiple suppliers and urgent purchase requirements.
- Strong analytical and cost-control skills.
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems (Tally, Odoo, SAP, or similar).
Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Additional certification in Procurement or Supply Chain Management will be an added advantage.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- 4–7 years of experience in procurement within the FMCG or food manufacturing industry.
- Experience in purchasing agricultural commodities or food ingredients will be preferred.
- Familiarity with vendor development and local market sourcing.
- Ability to work independently and under deadlines.
