About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Site Supervisor to oversee the execution of the Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal Project under the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Bihar. The Site Supervisor will be responsible for supervising day-to-day site activities, ensuring timely project execution, maintaining quality standards, coordinating with government officials and contractors, and managing labour and resources at the project site.
The ideal candidate should possess strong technical knowledge of water supply projects, excellent coordination skills, and the ability to manage multiple site activities while ensuring compliance with PHED specifications and safety standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesSite Execution & Supervision
- Supervise day-to-day execution of PHED water supply works under the Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal Scheme.
- Monitor pipeline laying, valve installation, household tap connections, pump house works, overhead tanks, and other related civil and mechanical activities.
- Ensure work is executed as per approved drawings, BOQ, specifications, and departmental guidelines.
- Monitor project progress and ensure timely completion of assigned work.
Labour & Contractor Management
- Supervise contractors, subcontractors, and labour teams.
- Allocate daily work targets and monitor productivity.
- Ensure adequate manpower, machinery, and materials are available at site.
- Resolve day-to-day site issues to avoid work delays.
Quality Control
- Ensure all work complies with PHED quality standards and technical specifications.
- Conduct routine quality inspections and report deviations.
- Coordinate testing of pipelines, joints, and water supply systems before commissioning.
- Maintain quality records and site documentation.
Coordination with Government Authorities
- Coordinate regularly with PHED officials, Junior Engineers (JE), Assistant Engineers (AE), Executive Engineers (EE), and other departmental authorities.
- Attend site inspections conducted by PHED officials.
- Ensure timely compliance with departmental observations and instructions.
- Support preparation of measurement books (MB), inspection reports, and progress reports.
Material & Inventory Management
- Monitor receipt and consumption of construction materials.
- Verify material quality before usage.
- Maintain stock records for pipes, fittings, valves, pumps, and other materials.
- Prevent wastage and ensure proper material handling.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily progress reports (DPR).
- Maintain site registers and labour attendance.
- Submit weekly and monthly progress updates to the Project Manager.
- Maintain proper photographic records of work progress.
- Assist in preparation of billing and measurement documentation.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to safety practices at site.
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Ensure proper use of PPE by workers.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Required Skills
- Good knowledge of PHED water supply projects.
- Experience in pipeline laying and water distribution systems.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and BOQs.
- Strong labour management and coordination skills.
- Good communication skills in Hindi; basic English is desirable.
- Ability to handle government officials professionally.
- Knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, and WhatsApp reporting.
- Ability to prepare daily progress reports and maintain documentation.
Educational Qualification
- Diploma in Civil Engineering (Preferred)
- B.Tech/B.E. in Civil Engineering will be an added advantage.
- ITI candidates with relevant PHED/site supervision experience may also be considered.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in site supervision.
- Experience in PHED, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal, Rural Water Supply, or Government Infrastructure Projects is highly preferred.
- Candidates having prior experience working with Bihar Government projects will be given preference
Pay: ₹10,089.20 - ₹30,424.05 per month
