Job Purpose
The Area Sales Manager (ASM) is responsible for managing and leading a team of Medical Representatives (MRs) within the assigned area to achieve sales targets, ensure doctor coverage, improve product promotion, and develop market growth by implementing company strategies effectively.
Key Responsibilities1. Sales Target Achievement
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and yearly primary & secondary sales targets.
- Ensure target-based product planning and execution in the assigned territory.
- Monitor sales performance of each MR and provide action plans for improvement.
2. Team Handling & Development
- Lead, guide, and motivate Medical Representatives (MRs) to perform efficiently.
- Conduct regular field visits and joint working with team members.
- Provide on-the-job training for product knowledge, communication skills, and doctor handling.
3. Market Development
- Identify potential doctors, chemists, and stockists for business development.
- Develop strategies to increase doctor conversions and prescription generation.
- Expand coverage and strengthen product presence in new areas.
4. Doctor / Chemist / Stockist Management
- Build strong professional relationships with key doctors, chemists, and distributors.
- Ensure effective doctor coverage as per category-wise plan.
- Improve product visibility at chemist level and ensure proper stock availability.
5. Reporting & Documentation
- Ensure daily call reporting (DCR) submission by all MRs.
- Track and analyze call averages, doctor visit count, chemist calls, and conversions.
- Submit regular reports to RSM on sales progress, competitor activity, and field feedback.
6. Strategy Implementation
- Execute company promotional campaigns and product launch activities.
- Ensure effective utilization of promotional inputs and samples.
- Implement marketing strategies to boost brand performance in the market.
7. Competitor Analysis
- Collect competitor information related to pricing, products, schemes, and market trends.
- Suggest improvements and business opportunities to senior management.

Required Qualification
- Graduate / Post Graduate (B.Pharm / B.Sc / M.Pharm / MBA preferred)
Experience Required
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in pharmaceutical sales
- Experience as Senior MR / Team Leader preferred
- Prior experience in handling team and achieving targets is mandatory
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Must have experience in ethical pharma marketing
- Good understanding of field work and doctor coverage system
- Strong knowledge of sales strategies and market development
- Ability to work under pressure and achieve deadlines

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Fresher
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
