Job Title: Career Counsellor (Grade 8 to ISC Level)
Location: St. John's Universal School, Goregaon
Job Purpose:
To help students make more informed educational and career choices. To support the learners in exploring different career options, analysing their interests, and fortifying their strengths through a well-prepared counselling program.
➢ To guide learners and parents on subject selection and interest mapping to select subjects for Secondary Students/higher studies.
➢ Guide students in determining their interests and abilities using various methods, such as aptitude assessments, interviews, and planning materials.
➢ Counsel individual learners, working with them to aid in developing both hard and soft skills.
➢ Help students craft a long-term plan for reaching their career objectives
➢ Conducting Group sessions and workshops throughout the year, which will supplement with individual one-on-one meetings to plan each Student’s academic pathway carefully.
Responsibilities
● End-to-end ownership of the career counselling and college placement cell.
● To guide learners and parents on subject selection and interest mapping to select subjects for Secondary Students/higher studies.
● Guide students in determining their interests and abilities using various methods, such as aptitude assessments, interviews, and planning materials.
● Develop a comprehensive, long-term career counselling program and calendar.
● Provide early interventions in facilitating students' career choices and decisions.
● Help students craft a long-term plan for reaching their career objectives
● Conducting Group sessions and workshops throughout the year for grades 8 to 12
● Provide maximum exposure to students by building University and Industry interfaces. Plan university visits, career fairs, career talks etc
● Build a system to provide personalized and individual counselling. Value and respond to the diversity and individual differences of the students.
● Ensure equitable access to opportunities for all students.
● Collaborate and consult with parents, teachers, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
● Perform Assessments, interpret tests, and study students' records. Gather and analyse data to measure results.
● Develop structured reporting mechanisms for all stakeholders.
● Help students to apply to the University of their choice in India and abroad.
● Help students in preparing a college list that best fits them.
● Submit all University-related documents required from the school. Prepare transcripts and consolidate recommendation letters.
Requirements:
● 3 yrs - 5 yrs experience as a Career Counsellor (International or ICSE/CBSE/ISC board)
● Any Graduate (Psychology preferred)
● Pleasing personality with excellent communication skills, ability to build rapport, patience with good listening and observation skills
● Ability to build and lead a team. Integrity and professionalism.
● Ability to respond effectively to the needs of a diverse student pool.
● Tech savvy with excellent knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
● Knowledge of relevant application portals- Commonapp, UCAS.
● Ease and experience with Windows-based computers, the internet, and emails, and proficient typing abilities.
