Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and resourceful System Engineer to maintain and support our IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in system administration, network management, firewall configuration, IT asset management, and end-user support. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth IT operations, maintaining security standards, and managing all IT assets across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot day-to-day system, network, hardware, and software issues for internal users.
- Install, format, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Coordinate with employees to understand and resolve technical issues.
- Set up laptops/desktops for new joiners based on project and technical requirements.
- Manage LAN infrastructure, network cabling, routers, switches, and internet connectivity.
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot firewalls, VPNs, and network security policies.
- Monitor and maintain firewall performance, security rules, and access controls.
- Assist with internet connectivity, ISP coordination, and network security implementation.
- Maintain complete IT asset inventory, asset labeling, allocation records, and audit documentation.
- Manage asset issuance, collection, repairs, replacements, and disposal records.
- Ensure proper tracking of laptops, desktops, peripherals, software licenses, and other IT assets.
- Monitor system performance and recommend infrastructure improvements.
- Ensure regular system updates, backups, antivirus management, and patch deployment.
- Maintain system and network documentation, including configurations and inventory records.
- Collaborate with external vendors for technical support, procurement, and maintenance activities.
- Assist in implementing IT security best practices across the organization.
- Exposure to basic setup and configuration of cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is preferred.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of experience as a System Engineer/System Administrator.
- Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience in Firewall Management and Configuration.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Experience with LAN/WAN, routers, switches, VPNs, and network troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience in IT Asset Management, Asset Labeling, and Inventory Tracking.
- Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and IP Addressing.
- Experience with antivirus management, patch updates, system monitoring, and backups.
- Familiarity with firewall solutions such as Sophos, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco, or similar.
- Basic understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Red Hat Certification (RHCSA/RHCE) will be an added advantage.
- Experience in managing enterprise IT infrastructure and security environments.
