A floor supervisor in a commercial vehicle workshop acts as the critical operational link between frontline technicians and management. They oversee daily maintenance workflows, allocate job cards, ensure adherence to OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) repair standards, manage parts inventory, and enforce strict safety and quality controls.
Core roles and responsibilities include:
- Job Allocation & Tracking: Assigning repair and service jobs to mechanics, monitoring work progress, and updating service advisors on delivery timelines or any cost/time overruns.
- Quality Assurance: Ensuring all heavy-duty repairs meet exact OEM standards (e.g., BharatBenz or Volvo Eicher guidelines) and conducting rigorous final inspections before vehicle delivery.
- Resource Management: Overseeing the availability of required spare parts, consumables, and specialized workshop tools to prevent workflow bottlenecks.
- Staff Mentorship: Training technicians, evaluating their daily productivity, and ensuring optimal manpower utilization on the shop floor.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforcing workplace safety protocols, ensuring the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and maintaining a clean, organized work environment
