Deputy Manager / Manager – HR & Payroll
The Assistant Manager – Payroll & Compliance is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring statutory compliance, maintaining employee records, and supporting HR operations. The role requires close coordination with Finance, Accounts, Plant HR, and external agencies to ensure timely salary processing, regulatory compliance, and adherence to organizational policies.
Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll Management
- Process monthly payroll accurately and within timelines.
- Validate attendance, leave, overtime, incentives, arrears, reimbursements, and deductions.
- Ensure correct computation of income tax (TDS), bonuses, gratuity, and final settlements.
- Coordinate with payroll vendors and HRMS teams for smooth payroll execution.
- Prepare payroll reports, reconciliation statements, and MIS for management review.
Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws and statutory regulations.
- Manage Provident Fund (PF), Employees' State Insurance (ESI), Professional Tax, Labour Welfare Fund, and other statutory requirements.
- Coordinate statutory filings, returns, inspections, and audits.
- Maintain records related to labour licences, contractor compliance, and regulatory documentation.
- Keep abreast of changes in labour legislation and implement necessary updates.
HR Operations
- Support onboarding, employee documentation, and exit formalities.
- Process full and final settlements and ensure timely issuance of statutory documents.
- Maintain employee master data and payroll records in the HRMS.
- Resolve employee queries related to salary, taxation, benefits, and compliance.
Audit & Reporting
- Prepare payroll and compliance MIS reports and dashboards for large no of workforce.
- Support internal and external audits by providing accurate records and documentation.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with Finance, Accounts, HR Business Partners, and business leaders.
- Coordinate with external consultants, statutory authorities, and payroll service providers.
- Ensure confidentiality and integrity of payroll and employee information.
Qualifications
- MBA/PGDM in Human Resources, Finance, or related field.
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Management, or a related discipline preferred.
Experience
- 5–8 years of experience in Payroll, HR Operations, and Statutory Compliance.
- Experience in manufacturing, steel, mining, infrastructure, or large workforce environments is preferred.
- Exposure to managing payroll for large employee populations is an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Payroll processing and salary structuring
- PF, ESI, PT, TDS, Bonus, Gratuity, and labour law compliance
- HRMS/Payroll systems (SAP HCM, SAP SuccessFactors, Darwinbox, Keka, GreytHR, or similar)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and MIS reporting
- HR analytics and statutory documentation

Pay: Up to ₹1,000,000.00 per year
