General Summary:
The Engineer is responsible for evaluating existing elevator systems and developing modernization and retrofit packages to enhance performance, safety, reliability, energy efficiency, and compliance with current standards.
The role involves technical assessment, solution design, coordination with cross-functional teams, and support through execution.
Primary responsibilities:
The Engineer will be responsible for supporting field in following activities:
Conduct detailed site surveys and technical audits of existing elevator installationsAnalyze system performance, reliability issues, obsolescence risks, and safety gaps.
Define modernization scope including control systems, drives, motors, doors, safety components, fixtures, and interfaces.
Develop customized retrofit packages aligned with customer needs, building conditions, and regulatory requirements.
Prepare technical proposals, drawings, BOMs, and modernization specifications.
Support estimation teams with technical inputs, cost optimization, and risk assessment.
Ensure compliance with applicable elevator codes, standards, and safety regulations.
Collaborate with sales, installation, manufacturing, and service teams during project execution.
Provide technical clarification to customers, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
Support pre-sales meetings, site validations, and handovers to execution teams.
Support installation teams during modernization execution, troubleshooting technical issues as required.
Participate in testing, commissioning, and acceptance of modernized elevators.
Capture lessons learned and feedback to continuously improve retrofit offerings.
- Preferred: B.E. – Electronics /Electrical Engineering
EXPERIENCE
8 ~ 12 years of experience in elevator engineering, modernization, retrofit projects, or vertical transportation systems.
Hands-on exposure to elevator subsystems such as controllers, drives, motors, door systems, safety devices, and signalling systems is preferred.
ANY OTHER KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES IF REQUIRED
Strong understanding of elevator technologies and modernization practices.
Knowledge of elevator safety codes and standards (e.g., EN, IS, ASME – as applicable).
Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
Proficiency in MS Office; exposure to CAD tools is an advantage
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Customer-focused with good communication and presentation abilities.
Ability to manage multiple modernization projects simultaneously.
Team-oriented mindset with ability to coordinate across functions.
Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
