Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role as an MSSQL Database Administrator & Python Automation Engineer in Coimbatore.
You will be responsible for administering and optimizing Microsoft SQL Server environments while developing scalable Python automation solutions that improve operational efficiency, modernize legacy applications, and support business-critical data systems. This role combines database administration, data engineering, automation development, and legacy VBA support to ensure reliable, secure, and high-performing business applications.
You will:Microsoft SQL Server Administration
- Install, configure, patch, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server production, staging, and development environments.
- Monitor database health, storage, and performance to ensure maximum uptime.
- Analyze execution plans and optimize T-SQL queries, indexes, and database objects.
- Design, implement, and test backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.
- Configure and maintain AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, and Log Shipping.
- Manage database security, including user access, roles, permissions, encryption, and security audits.
- Troubleshoot production database issues and proactively identify performance bottlenecks.
Python Development & Automation
- Develop reusable Python applications to automate business processes and repetitive workflows.
- Design and maintain ETL pipelines to extract, transform, and load data into Microsoft SQL Server.
- Integrate data from APIs, flat files, web services, and external systems.
- Build automated scheduling solutions using Windows Task Scheduler, Cron, or orchestration platforms.
- Perform data cleansing, validation, and transformation using modern Python libraries.
- Modernize legacy VBA solutions by migrating them into scalable Python applications.
- Maintain technical documentation for automation processes and applications.
VBA & Legacy Application Support
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance existing Excel and Access VBA applications.
- Develop and support automated reports, dashboards, and user forms.
- Create seamless connectivity between Excel tools and SQL Server using ADO, ODBC, xlwings, or openpyxl.
- Improve reporting efficiency while ensuring compatibility with existing business processes.
Coordinate with:
- IT and Infrastructure teams to maintain secure and reliable database environments.
- Engineering, Finance, Operations, and Business teams to understand automation and reporting requirements.
- Project stakeholders to deliver scalable automation and data integration solutions.
- Internal users to troubleshoot application, reporting, and database-related issues.
- Cross-functional teams to migrate legacy Excel/VBA solutions into modern Python-based applications.
You have:
- Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server Administration.
- Advanced knowledge of T-SQL, Stored Procedures, Views, Triggers, Indexing, and Performance Tuning.
- Experience managing backup, recovery, AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, and Log Shipping.
- Strong proficiency in Python 3.x programming.
- Hands-on experience with libraries such as pandas, NumPy, SQLAlchemy, pyodbc, requests, openpyxl, and xlwings.
- Experience building ETL pipelines and integrating APIs.
- Strong understanding of Excel and Access VBA development.
- Experience connecting SQL Server with Excel-based applications.
- Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related technical field.
- 4+ years of professional experience in SQL Server Administration, Python development, and VBA programming.
Extra points if you also:
- Have experience with Git, GitHub, or GitLab.
- Have worked with Apache Airflow, Prefect, or similar workflow orchestration tools.
- Have experience with Docker or containerized deployments.
- Have exposure to Azure SQL Database or AWS RDS.
- Have experience modernizing large-scale Excel/VBA-based business applications.
- Have supported manufacturing, engineering, or ERP-driven environments.

Pay: ₹353,427.61 - ₹600,000.00 per year
