Job Title: Manager – Purchase & Store Department
Job Summary
We are seeking a strategic and results-oriented Manager to lead our Purchase and Store Department in the aerospace and defence manufacturing sector. The Manager will be responsible for overseeing procurement operations, inventory management, and supplier relationships to ensure the timely availability of materials and components while maintaining compliance with industry standards and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement Strategy Development: Create and implement effective procurement strategies that optimize sourcing, reduce costs, and ensure timely delivery of materials to meet production needs.
- Supplier Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiate contracts, assess supplier performance, and resolve any issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing.
- Inventory Control: Oversee inventory management processes, including monitoring stock levels, conducting audits, and implementing inventory optimization techniques to minimize excess inventory and stock outs.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze procurement and inventory data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement; prepare and present comprehensive reports to senior management.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with production, engineering, quality assurance, and other departments to ensure alignment on material requirements and to address supply chain challenges.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure all purchasing and inventory activities comply with relevant regulations, industry standards, and internal policies, promoting a culture of quality and safety.
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing and store team, fostering a collaborative environment and encouraging professional growth and skill development.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives for process improvements in procurement and inventory management, leveraging best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; advanced degrees or relevant certifications (e.g., APICS, CIPS) are preferred.
- Experience: 6-10 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or inventory management, with a strong background in the aerospace and defence manufacturing industry.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in procurement and inventory management software; advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record of using data to drive decisions and improve procurement processes.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team, manage projects, and influence cross-functional collaboration effectively.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and senior management.
- Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
