Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer (Mechanical) – CGD Pipeline to support and supervise the execution of City Gas Distribution (CGD) pipeline projects. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating field activities and monitoring the laying, installation, testing, and execution of PE/MDPE and steel gas pipelines as per approved drawings, specifications, safety standards, and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate day-to-day execution of CGD pipeline laying activities.
- Monitor the installation and laying of PE/MDPE and steel gas pipelines at project sites.
- Coordinate with contractors, field teams, inspectors, and project authorities for smooth execution.
- Ensure pipeline work is carried out as per approved drawings, specifications, QAP, method statements, and applicable standards.
- Monitor excavation, trenching, pipe laying, jointing, backfilling, testing, and reinstatement activities.
- Coordinate inspection and testing activities for PE and steel pipelines.
- Monitor project progress and ensure activities are completed within the planned schedule.
- Prepare and maintain Daily Progress Reports (DPRs), site records, inspection reports, and other project documentation.
- Verify work progress and coordinate with field engineers/inspectors for accurate reporting.
- Identify site-level issues and coordinate with relevant teams for timely resolution.
- Ensure compliance with project quality and HSE/safety requirements.
- Coordinate with the client and contractors regarding work progress, inspections, and site requirements.
- Assist in reviewing drawings, technical documents, work schedules, and project records.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and ensure proper execution of pipeline works.
Required Skills
- Good understanding of City Gas Distribution (CGD) pipeline projects.
- Knowledge of PE/MDPE and steel gas pipeline laying and installation.
- Understanding of pipeline jointing, testing, trenching, backfilling, and commissioning activities.
- Good coordination and communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate between client, contractor, inspectors, and field teams.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Knowledge of relevant pipeline standards, safety practices, and quality requirements.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel and Word.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years
- Candidates with experience in pipeline execution, site supervision, project coordination, or third-party inspection will be preferred.
- Willingness to travel to project sites within the assigned project area.
- Strong ability to manage field coordination and project documentation.
