1. Job Purpose
To manage and supervise the complete manufacturing operations of liquid and ointment dosage forms, ensuring production targets are achieved safely and efficiently while maintaining compliance with GMP, SOPs, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Production Planning & Execution
- Plan, schedule, and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production activities.
- Ensure timely completion of production batches as per the approved production plan.
- Monitor manufacturing activities for liquid and ointment products.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machinery, materials, and resources.
- Coordinate with Planning, QA, QC, Warehouse, Engineering, and other departments.
B. Liquid Manufacturing
- Supervise manufacturing of liquid dosage forms such as syrups, suspensions, solutions, and oral liquids, as applicable.
- Ensure proper dispensing, sifting, mixing, homogenization, filtration, transfer, and filling operations.
- Monitor critical process parameters and ensure compliance with approved Batch Manufacturing Records (BMRs).
- Ensure proper cleaning and line clearance of manufacturing and filling equipment.
C. Ointment Manufacturing
- Supervise manufacturing of ointments, creams, gels, and other semisolid dosage forms, as applicable.
- Ensure proper melting, mixing, homogenization, cooling, and filling operations.
- Monitor temperature, mixing time, speed, homogenization, and other critical process parameters.
- Ensure proper handling of raw materials and bulk products to prevent contamination and mix-ups.
D. GMP & Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to GMP, cGMP, SOPs, BMRs, BPRs, and safety procedures.
- Ensure proper documentation of all manufacturing activities.
- Maintain data integrity and ensure entries are made accurately and contemporaneously.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and company requirements.
- Support regulatory, customer, and internal audits.
E. Batch Documentation
- Review manufacturing records and ensure completion of all relevant documents.
- Ensure proper recording of:
- Batch Manufacturing Records
- Equipment usage and cleaning records
- Area cleaning records
- Logbooks
- Yield reconciliation
- In-process checks
- Process parameters
- Coordinate with QA for batch review and release-related activities.
F. Quality & Process Control
- Ensure manufacturing is carried out according to approved procedures.
- Monitor in-process parameters and coordinate with QC for testing.
- Investigate manufacturing deviations, incidents, and process-related issues.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis, CAPA, Change Control, and investigation activities.
- Implement corrective and preventive measures to improve product quality.
G. Manpower Management
- Plan and allocate manpower according to production requirements.
- Supervise Production Officers, Executives, Operators, and Helpers.
- Conduct training on GMP, SOPs, safety, equipment operation, and manufacturing procedures.
- Monitor employee performance, discipline, attendance, and productivity.
H. Equipment & Facility Coordination
- Ensure proper operation and cleaning of manufacturing equipment.
- Coordinate with Engineering/Maintenance for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Ensure equipment availability before starting production.
- Report equipment-related abnormalities and ensure timely resolution.
I. Safety & Hygiene
- Ensure compliance with plant safety and personal hygiene requirements.
- Ensure proper use of PPE by production personnel.
- Prevent cross-contamination, contamination, and product mix-ups.
- Ensure proper material and personnel movement within manufacturing areas.
- Immediately report accidents, unsafe conditions, and abnormal incidents.
J. Productivity & Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for improving manufacturing processes and productivity.
- Reduce batch rejection, wastage, rework, and manufacturing losses.
- Improve equipment utilization and reduce production downtime.
- Support implementation of process improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.
3. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Achievement of monthly production targets.
- Batch completion within planned timelines.
- Reduction in batch rejection and rework.
- Reduction in material wastage.
- Right-first-time (RFT) batch performance.
- Compliance with GMP and SOP requirements.
- BMR/BPR documentation accuracy and completeness.
- Manpower productivity.
- Reduction in manufacturing deviations.
- Effective coordination with QA/QC and other departments.
- Safe and efficient operation of the production area.
4. Qualification
Essential:
- B.Pharm / M.Pharm / B.Sc. / M.Sc. / B.Tech or equivalent qualification relevant to pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Preferred:
- B.Pharm/M.Pharm with relevant pharmaceutical production experience.
5. Experience
- 8–12 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical production.
- Minimum 3–5 years in a supervisory/managerial role preferred.
- Hands-on experience in liquid and ointment/semisolid manufacturing is essential.
- Knowledge of GMP, cGMP, documentation, validation, deviation, CAPA, and change control.

Pay: ₹30,322.10 - ₹69,119.68 per month
