Job Summary
NB Entrepreneurs is looking for a Mechanical Procurement & Purchase Engineer to manage the complete procurement and purchasing process for mechanical and industrial materials.
The candidate will be responsible for vendor development, sourcing, quotation collection, price negotiation, purchase order processing, order follow-up, and timely delivery of required materials while ensuring the required quality and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the complete purchase and procurement process for mechanical and industrial items.
- Understand requirements from engineering, production, maintenance, and other departments.
- Source mechanical components, machine parts, spares, tools, fabricated items, fasteners, bearings, valves, pumps, pipes, fittings, and other industrial materials.
- Identify and develop new suppliers and maintain good relationships with existing vendors.
- Send RFQs and enquiries to suppliers and collect quotations.
- Compare quotations based on price, quality, specifications, delivery time, payment terms, and other commercial conditions.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other commercial requirements with vendors.
- Coordinate with technical teams for verification of specifications, drawings, BOMs, and material requirements.
- Prepare comparative statements and recommend suitable vendors.
- Process and release Purchase Orders (POs) as per company procedures.
- Follow up with vendors for order confirmation, material readiness, dispatch, and timely delivery.
- Coordinate with stores, engineering, production, maintenance, quality, and accounts departments.
- Resolve issues related to quality, quantity, specifications, delivery, and supplier performance.
- Maintain purchase records, vendor details, quotations, POs, invoices, and other procurement documents.
- Develop alternate sources and support cost reduction and efficient procurement.
- Track pending orders and provide regular updates on procurement status.
Requirements
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 4–8 years of experience in mechanical purchase/procurement/sourcing preferred.
- Good knowledge of mechanical components, industrial materials, machinery parts, and engineering products.
