Head – International Logistics
Global Pharmaceutical & Medical Supply Chain | Senior Leadership Role
Key Responsibilities
1. International Logistics Strategy & Leadership
▪ Develop and implement global logistics strategies aligned with CARE9's business and expansion objectives.
▪ Establish efficient international supply chain networks across West Africa, Europe, and South America.
▪ Lead logistics planning for new market entries and international expansion projects.
▪ Drive logistics cost optimisation and operational efficiency initiatives across all corridors.
▪ Build and lead a capable logistics team as the function scales with business growth.
2. International Freight & Transportation Management
▪ Manage air, sea, road, and multimodal transportation operations across all active corridors.
▪ Negotiate contracts and rates with freight forwarders, shipping lines, airlines, and logistics service providers globally.
▪ Ensure timely shipment execution, delivery performance, and proactive exception management.
▪ Monitor freight costs, transit times, and carrier performance with a continuous improvement mindset.
▪ Manage cold chain and temperature-sensitive logistics requirements for pharmaceutical products.
3. Customs Compliance & Trade Regulations
▪ Oversee international import and export activities across all corridors in full regulatory compliance.
▪ Manage customs clearance processes across multiple jurisdictions simultaneously.
▪ Review and approve all shipping documentation including:
– Commercial Invoices and Packing Lists
– Certificates of Origin
– Bills of Lading and Airway Bills
– Insurance Certificates
– Import/Export Permits and Licences
– Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Import/Export Declarations
▪ Monitor and interpret changes in customs duties, tariffs, and trade agreements across active markets.
▪ Coordinate with customs authorities and government agencies in India, West Africa, Europe, and South America.
▪ Maintain compliance with:
– Indian DGFT / Foreign Trade Policy requirements
– FDA Ghana, NAFDAC, and ECOWAS pharmaceutical import/export regulations
– EU MDR/IVDR and WHO GDP standards for European corridor flows
– ANVISA, INVIMA, and ANMAT requirements for South American markets
– Medical device import/export regulations across all jurisdictions
– Quality standards, certifications, and serialisation/traceability requirements
4. Vendor & Stakeholder Management
▪ Manage and develop relationships with global logistics partners including:
– Freight Forwarders and Customs Brokers
– Shipping Companies and Airlines
– Third-Party Logistics Providers (3PL) and Fulfilment Partners
– Government Agencies and Regulatory Bodies
– Insurance Providers
▪ Evaluate, onboard, and performance-manage vendors using structured KPI frameworks.
▪ Collaborate with procurement and operations teams to ensure uninterrupted supply across all markets.
▪ Support DIHOC-CARE9 Ghana JV logistics requirements and military/institutional hospital supply chains.
5. Supply Chain Planning & Inventory
▪ Collaborate with demand planning teams to align logistics capacity with inventory requirements.
▪ Optimise warehousing and fulfilment centre operations at CARE9HUB locations.
▪ Implement inventory control systems to minimise stock-outs and excess holdings across markets.
▪ Establish and monitor supply chain KPIs, SLAs, and performance dashboards.
▪ Support last-mile delivery planning for hospitals, pharmacies, and institutional clients.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
▪ 5+ years of progressive experience in international logistics, with at least 2 years in a senior leadership role.
▪ Demonstrated experience managing pharmaceutical and/or medical device logistics across international corridors.
▪ Hands-on expertise in multi-jurisdiction customs compliance and import/export documentation.
▪ Proven track record in freight negotiation, vendor management, and supply chain cost optimisation.
▪ Strong command of WHO GDP guidelines and pharmaceutical cold chain requirements.
▪ Experience working across International supply chain
Preferred
▪ MBA or postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics, or International Business.
▪ Professional certifications: IATA Dangerous Goods, FIATA Diploma, Customs House Agent (CHA) licence, or equivalent.
▪ Direct experience with European & African pharmaceutical regulatory frameworks.
▪ Working knowledge of ERP/HIMS platforms and logistics analytics tools.
